Review : SISTER SIN – "True Sound Of The Underground"

Sister SinTrue Sound Of The Underground
Release Date: 2010Jun22
Label: Victory Records
Rating: 3.5/5

Sister Sin is a band from Gothenburg, Sweden that’s been described as “street metal” and that moniker is actually quite appropriate. “Sound Of The Underground” opens up this album strongly, sounding like early Motley Crue with a dash of Judas Priest and Budgie thrown in for good measure, and a female vocalist. It feels like being transported back to the early 80s but without all of the frizzy hair. “Outrage” sounds more like a continuation of the first track and you’ll want to spin it along with “Times Aren’t A-Changing”, “Beat Em Down” and “Heading For Hell” (which reminds me of Motorhead). This is a fun ‘old school metal’ album that may seem a bit formulaic, but it’s nice to hear something different come out of Gothenburg other than the usual melodic death metal.
