Not being biased but the Up! Is a great car, first car or not, I have the Skoda citigo which is the exact same car as the Up! But just looks different. Being before 2017, toad tax is only £20 a year and it has been a much better car than the fiat 500 was for me. The 500 was tiny, noisy, uncomfortable and un ergonomic for me, with the gear know being up on the dash like a van felt way too high and the seats made you think you were driving a lift land rover when your driving a tin can on wheels, the engine was nippy but never felt like it was doing much and the road noise especially on motorways was horrible, you had to talk louder than normal to have a convo with your passenger or crank the music on the meh sound system to hear it. And it cost me a hell of a lot for its MOT, having to have new shocks all round, new brake pads, new clutch assembly because it had snapped from the firewall, cost me over £800 to fix
The citigo has been nothing but reliable for me, has always been a turn key and go car, nothing ever to worry about, mines a 2014 sport so £20/year road tax, much comfier (though still not amazing for long distances), quieter, much better ergonomically for me, have no faults with it. And with some modifications to it, it has become a really fun daily car that I can take to shows and not feel embarrassed compared to taking a fiat 500.
i have a mito as my first car but the sportiva edition as a low mileage QV is impossible to get under 5k and the 1.4 turbo was 2k a year with a box so i went with the 85hp 0.9 engine
My first car was a 08 Nissan Qashqai Teckna 2.0 a big SUV with hatchback dimension so easy to park and manoeuvre. Top spec same price as a corsa and cheaper insurance.
Go for unusual first cars
Great to see this to be updated👍
Cheeky porker behind the Adam there. Got to have me a go in a Swift at some point though, sport obviously!
What are people’s recommendations for an alternative for the Mito QV? That would match its hp while still being under £5,000? Is there even anything around ? Been looking for ages and the QV is also rare af rn
Great vid! When i was 17 I managed to insure a 1.6 2015 swift sport for under 1k a year with black box! Still have it at 19, without a black box and is still around 1k with lots of modifications declared, inluding: remap, intake, exhaust, oz alloys, sunstrip, greddy wing and front splitter, rally flaps and interior changes. Great car!
Nice to see Veloces featured. Bought my Giulia from there.
Nice to see Veloces featured. Bought my Giulia from there.
When I started driving some time back I bought a Marina 1.7cc for two hundred quid, but when I tried to get insurance for it the insurance company wanted two grand
Just bought a 2011 Polo SEL 1.2 105ps for £4k, lots of fun and previous owner was a boy-racer so came lowered, spoiler, splitter, rcd330 and air filter. Adding LEDs everywhere I can expect headlights ofc.
My first car is an NA MR2 my 2 with insurance at just about 2k, in my area insuring a fiesta, corsa or Clio cost around 2.5-3k. Spent 5k on both the car, repairs it needed and insurance
My first car is a Seat Ibiza 1.2 diesel estate which i bought for just under £3000. I've only owned it for over 2 months now and its served me very well. £0 tax, great fuel economy (for longer journeys) and very practical. My insurance is also £1500 without box but my quotes are usually higher then average. This is a great car for your under £3000 video
My boy will be 17 soon . Do you think me adding me under his insurance as named driver and full no claims . 🤔 please let me know bro thanks
Can you let me know the insurance on Audi a3 1.4 13 plate sline for a 17 year old please
is it possible to do another cheap fast/fun first cars with good insurance?
I was 17 and the insurance on my mx5 was 1400 for the year. That was early this year too
I’m 19 year old nearly 20 had driving license for 1 year and any car here insurance £3000 at least 🥲
How did you manage to get such cheap insurance on the Alfa? I used all the advice you gave in your insurance video and I get good prices on every other car, but the Mito is saying £4350 a year, am I doing something wrong?
The only bad thing about getting a fast first car is that you get used to the performance like moving from an intersection and the like like my first car a 2012 vw passat v6 with around 300bhp
my first car and car i still own is a mito qv and i paid 1.5k for insurance at 17 without a box, highly recommend it
i had a Skoda Fabia sport 2008 with a 1.9 tdi and the insurance was very cheap for the car you got
Perfect timing!
i was looking at a mito for my first car but went with a BMW e87 116i and wish I went with mito but I'm happy with what I did to my 1er as well
mito insurance: 1.6k?
116i: 2.9k with black box…
3:30 WTF did the drone go rogue?
You must live in good area cause my first car I bought for £500, hyundai getz 1.3 and first year insurance was £1700 with blackbox
Can you make a video similar to this but with quicker first cars like 100-150hp range
I've got a 2013 kia rio and I got it in August, only 120 pound a month with 30 pounds road tax a year and it's a great little car
My mates just got a 22 plate polo GTI for his first car so jammy haha
To me, the MiTo QV seems like the perfect 1st car for car guys
My brothers mint 106 gti is gonna be my first car
What car would you choose for a first car, used mainly on motorways?
I had a mito 155bhp as my first car on my new licence…. that's the one with the big brembos and t-jet from 2009. It was fantastic. I drive a galant vr4 now and I bet you the Mito would have given it a run for its money in gear (wouldn't get anywhere near off the lights or round a corner, mind!). I'd say if you get one, just be prepared to change the bushes – they went on my first 2 Alfa's, otherwise very very sound. Oh and I whipped mine around, drove it like I stole it and ran it down to 1 pint of oil – it survived! Get one!
I pay 2300 a year no black box for my 1.6 tdi Ibiza estate… I feel like I’m being ripped off
My first car was an 89 xr2i insurance was mental £2500 fully comp car only cost 2k and was a ball to drive so that made up for it
Hi JB can you make a video about a Subaru wrx sti
Which insurance sites do you use?
Sick video as always mate.
Is it worth doing an updated best 2nd or 3rd cars (with a few years no claims)
