3 ways to select visible cells in Excel

What do you do when you have to copy a range of cells in Excel and paste it somewhere else?

In most cases, the below three steps get the work done:

Select the cells that you want to copy.
Copy the cells (Control + C).
Select the destination cell and paste these cells (Control + V).
But what if you have some hidden cells in the dataset?

Then – these above three steps are not enough.

In that case, you need to first select the visible cells in the dataset, and then copy paste this data only.

In this video, I will show you 3 ways to select visible cells in Excel:
— Using the keyboard shortcut (ALT + ; for windows and CMD + SHIFT + Z for mac)
— Using the Go To Special dialog box.
— Using the Select Visible Cells command in the Quick Access Toolbar

If you want to copy & paste only the visible cells, you hide the cells you don't want, copy, then right click and do a "Special Paste" by selecting "values only" (represented by the 1,2,3… symbol). It's way fewer steps.

You can choose which cells to hide based on their contents (country in this ex) instead of doing it manually by selecting the column of data that you want to hide the table based on (country column), pressing Ctrl + Shift + L, selecting the tiny white triangle expanding menu that pops up in that column.

I usually work on filter, so can you tell me Alt +; work only in copy & paste or it is must in filter data.

Thank you! The command+shift+Z did not work on my MAC. So I used the "go to special dialogue" box and clicked "visible cells only" FINALLY WORKED. This was for Excel 16.38 version.

Please help me I wanna paste my selected column to a filtered column. For example: i Have a column that has different kinds of names and i want it to be paste beside my filtered column so that each side corresponds to the name and if I unfiltered it, I want it to fit to their specific cells. Another example: i have a yellow marked cells and if i filtered out all the yellow cells, i want the names to be paste beside that filtered yellow mark so each yellow mark fits to their specific names.

It is not appearing completly every time I paste it beside the filtered section. The names wont come out completly or it appears half of the names i copied and if i unfiltered it the names are completly scattered inside the column and the names wont match to the cells or column that i wanted it to be. Please help me it will save me a lot of time and work.

I'm copying and pasting it manually for more than a thousand cells everyday and it is really time consuming and it is hurting my hands so bad.

Thanks in advance i hope you guys can help me! Sorry for my english I really cant explain it well.

Hi Sumit… Is there any way to paste the values into filtered data or on visible cells only… As I have seen many videos but I haven't find any suitable way to do so.

Another way: click "Sort & Filter" button in the ribbon, add a Filter. Then filter only US, then copy as before. Default copy under "filter" is visible only. Paste. Saves time vs. hiding rows manually.

But instead of doing this, if we apply filters to particular table and the same can be copied and pasted.
