644 Kubota LX2610 Tractor Grill Guard. DIY Bush Guard. Do You Need One? outdoors 4K

Better late than never! Time to get a Bush Guard made and mounted onto the grill guard of my Kubota LX2610 Compact Tractor. A Big thanks to Tom at Metal Supermarkets here in Ontario and especially to my good neighbour Guy. Hope you will tune in to see what we designed, built and installed, to guard against brush or other foreign objects entering the engine compartment and causing serious damage. Cheers!

I wonder if the KTAC insurance would cover any of this damage? I'm thinking it would.

Tavin Morrison

Need to add a fancy lightbar flush mounted into that grille gaurd!

JOHN HAMILTON

Look great.

Gord, I paused the video to confirm you had the air intake snorkel still attached to your engine. I have a 2019 B2650 with front mount snow blower, similar to your LX2610, and I would have issues after blowing snow for a while where the engine would produce dark exhaust smoke and power loss. I assumed I was working it too hard; nope. I contacted my local Kubota service manager and sent him a video. He had his mechanic call me back and asked if I had the air intake snorkel on when snow blowing; yes. He asked if I could look to see if it had a sticker that said remove during snow removal operations; it did not, and it is supposed to. Your intake may have been redesigned to solve this problem on the LX but it's worth looking into before you have snow/water gets sucked into the engine. The mechanic explained that removing the snorkel will not damage the air intake but will move where the intake collects air from close to the front of the engine where moisture can get sucked in, to the back of the engine where it is much better protected from this happening. In the end, my exterior filter was shot and when I removed it while talking to the mechanic and water poured out of it. The inner metal filter was also replaced as it was rusted from the previous season's unknown snow getting sucked in. I was surprised that Kubota did not offer to cover the cost because it was a mistake coming out of the factory. It is noted in my service records and the dealer said they would make good on any repairs if something with the engine was damaged. I let the tractor sit in my shop overnight without the filters in. The next morning I picked up new filters, and it was recommended to start the tractor after reinstalling the filters to look for dark smokey exhaust, after it initially starts. If there is still lots of smoke shut it off and call the dealer; if not let it idle at 12-1400 RPM for 30 minutes and watch for any signs of dark smoke. I didn't have any smoke and all appears to run normally. I can tell you that I've used it twice this season while snow blowing and there is no longer a dark smoke/power loss problem. I ended up using a silver sharpie marker and wrote on the snorkel "REMOVE DURING SNOW OPERATIONS". Stay safe, Len

Looking nice!!! Will be strong too! When you look at all the components that limb could have broken, that gives me vertigo! Lol! Everything gets crazy expensive when buying parts alone. Thanks!

Grill looks great! nice work guys!

Bert Hongo

Paint booth? Looks great. Thanks neighbor Guy!

Gary Benedict

Guy is a real fabricator Gord can paint what can you ask for ? That is a great piece of insurance.

D.A. Ballou

Excellent job and it looks fantastic from my house!🤣👨‍🚒

Scooter

Very nice bush gaurd Gord. You sure are fortunate to have a great neighborhood like Guy. His skills are invaluable for sure, you guys make a great taem.👍

TheGunner11

Have a grapple and brush guard because of this channel. Brush guard has taken quite a few hits over the years, easily one of the best investments for the grapple, along with the 1,400lbs of ballast I’ve added.

Lucky to have a neighbor as nice and skilled as Guy.

CJ M

Looks great!!!!

Tony Green

I keep thinking about it. This may be the push I needed.

Doug Davis

Came out great GP! And at a very reasonable price, minus the paint, Lol! Guys a talented man. Cheers!

SuperDave21

Great job and the pride in a job done well. Good to have friends too huh Gordon? Cheers !

Wayne Tharp

Guy hooked you up real nice!! The whole project just looks ready for work!👍

When I was a tractor newbie, I owned a JD 3320. While cleaning up the "jungle" a branch went through the front of the tractor broke through the front of the tractor and barely missed the battery. My dealer repaired the front grill and then installed a grill guard. When the Kubotas were ordered, I had the dealer make and installed grill guards. They will save the tractor at some point. Watching Guy brings back memories of Jack Hardy welding and making things out of steel. Thank for the video.

Great video GP. Your weather is just as nuts as ours is. 2 little snows and now there is nothing on the ground. Got the tractor out once and that turned out to be a waste of time for only about an inch. We would like some snow but not 5 or 6 feet. Have a great weekend and looking forward to your next video. Peace from west central Illinois

Bad Company

He did a fine job. Do you have plans to add additional lighting or doesn't the guard really impact it?

Richard Jacques

Sharp looking and great team work

Richard Browne

Looks Great GP 👍

pedro santos

That welding is smoking . Maybe fan behind him next time 😮.

Mega Mike

That guard will serve you well!. Am I the only one who still looks away at Welders Flash? Then it dawns on me….its a video. Cheers

Mark Camaro

Now you blocked your headlights so now you can add a big LED lightbar to the tractor to offset loss of headlights

Brad W

Turned out real nice and looks oem….I can add the using forks and lifting/moving items with sling chain also is dangerous for the grill. I have a welder and all the tools y’all used in Guys shop but missing one thing….ability to weld very well at all.

I saw comments about blocking headlights…I can say the headlights are useless anyway with a loader. For me, I assume they forget the headlights and include the grill guard. Never understood why they call the guard they provide a guard as it’s more of a funnel to guide stuff thru the radiator.

VikingShipExplorer

Great looking bush guard Gord. Guy did a great job, and your paint job looks perfect as well.

Bur Oak Ridge Homestead

You certainly don’t have to sell me! I smashed in the grill of my last tractor and it was like $300-400 US. First thing I did when I bought my new 3046r was put on a brush guard and I’m sure happy I did!

Tickle me Orange

Really good video Gord, and that grill looks great, what a great job Guy did… Your paint job was good too 😉

Winkles_9

I would love to see Guy's setup sometime for blowing snow. Looks like he has a front mount blower on his L?

Kevin McCarey

Hello Gord
Nice job on guard with great neighbors

Be well

Mike Szwec

GP love the custom work but I think I’ll go the easy route and get a 5eleven guard. Once upon a time I had that creative drive… not anymore lol

👍

Sean ONeill

For $40, I would have painted it Tremclad black, and got a few beer with the leftover cash

That looks great. Very nice job, Guy.

Marty B

Great job!. I need one of those.

mburke1211

Wow, nice work! Looks great!

Jean Valjohn

Very good production,
I see L.E.D. lights in your future.
There are two dozen vids on Y.T. about their ease of installation.
and low cost.
