We threw some new stickers and mirrors on the 340. These heavy modifications should add a minimum of 50 horsepower. We would have added more window tint and a subwoofer but did not want to blow the engine due to the additional power gain.

Late 1970’s my family bought a new IH 986 then we bought a 5 bottom plow since our IH 826 Hydro gold demonstrator pulled the 4 bottom plow. Another farm also bought a new IH 986 and all it could pull was a 4 bottom plow. They had complaints with IH and if I recall correctly they sued IH. I don’t know what the outcome of that was. I believe that after the warranty was over they turned up the injector pump in it.
