This year some parts of my garden did not get mulched until late July. Come have a look at how the unmulched beds did compared to the mulched ones!

My plot is close to the sea too and I find that seaweed is an excellent mulch that seems to keep away the slugs better. When it dries, it gets sharp and uncomfortable for the slugs to crawl in. The salt is no issue at all, and as I understand it is rich in minerals. So if anyone has problems with slugs and access to seaweed, try that.
What is going to be your mulch strategy moving forward?
I'm in N.Y and this year for gardening was horrible. No rain for weeks and I to was hit with covid in the hottest part of summer also.My grass got burnt so no grass clippings . I water my gardens by collecting the rain water. But no rain. I did have alot of leaves from the fall but used them in the spring to fill a couple of new raised garden beds and also put them in the bottom my containers before putting the dirt on top. And we're not to far behind you with the frost. Already thinking about next year and I'll be stocking up on my fall leaves soon. Glad you and your family are fine from the storm.
I've been told grass clippings don't work very well with corn. Do you know much about this?
Greg hope you and your family are safe
Hey Greg, just thinking about your vast garden and hopefully you weren't badly affected by the hurricane.
Not sure where you are in Nova Scotia, but I hope Fiona missed you. Thinking about you. ~ Lisa
Greg – you are just an enabler. I already have 4 plastic bins of seeds. My son gave me $50 gift certificate to Baker Creek for my August birthday. It is spent. Do not feed my addiction!
Hi Greg. Hope all is well for you and your family with Fiona passing through. Update us if you can. ☹️
How did you weather Fiona? Strong winds in Maine, but heard you got whalloped. Hope all is OK.
Greg, are you in the area that Fiona hit? Hope you and your family are safe!
Got COVID in May and my starter cups just sat outside waiting for my to recover. The end result was that I planted the garden three weeks late and the plants in the cups looked stressed. It wasn't a labor of love either, just labor to get them in. And then we got hit with the worst drought in 126 years and we had water rationing! But I did wheelbarrow a lot of leaf mulch on to the beds and we ended up with a decent harvest – more than we ever expected for the year. If this is the new normal, I'm dropping gardening and picking up reading! Stay safe
Watching you video I have put into practice mulching some and cannot say anything against this concept!
What r u going to do, I'm sad,,,your the one who taught me to bury pickles, now I bury pickles and picked beets every year in a buried freezer
Do you have a dedicated mulch pit or pile to weather over the winter
Hey Greg…hate to bring this up but the cucumber wilt may be compliments of the cucumber beetle which transmits the virus which causes the wilt? I hope that isn't the case but now that I have those beetles in my garden I cannot seem to shake them…I hope I am wrong though.
Great video – Thank you!

I hope the storm didn’t hit you guys but if it did I hope you and family is doing good
Keep safe Greg.
Thanks. It's good to get a different perspective on things sometimes.
Greg was a notty boy who didn’t mulch his garden this year😂
Hey Greg your hill back there looks like it would maje a good terrace garden, where good soils would leach down into your garden in the bottom, even if you didnt plant anything for years,it would bless your garden below. Just curious is all, i enjoy your videos, and appreciate them😉👍
Slugs, snails, and rain are issues here for my garden
Question. Have ever tried planting garlic and sweet potatoes in raised beds together? Heard it work great.
I hope you, and all are safe. I'm really enjoying your Substack articles!
What's best mulch for herb beds?
I've never mulched anything. We get a ton of rain spring and fall. Think I'm gonna try mulching for late spring and late fall. We will see!
Beautiful blue sky there behind you. I'll be sure and play "Riding the Storm Out." By REO Speed Wagon when the hurricane 🌀 comes to visit. Hopefully it'll just go around you. Glad you're feeling better..
Hey Greg…haven't watched the video yet…but we are hoping you are OK with Hurricane Fiona bearing down on you!
It appears you still have power though…stay safe buddy!
