See if you can use the old Samsung charging cable with the new Samsung Galaxy S8.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 now uses a USB-C type, so if you have the charging cable from the Galaxy S7 or S6 then it will not be compatible. If you need to get an additional backup cable then make sure it is the USB-C for the S8.
