The Samsung S95B has gotten a lot of press since launching in 2022, both good and bad. While the S95b brightness is exceptional, is this the best OLED TVs 2022 has to offer or is it the most hyped TV 2022?

🚨 CORRECTION: Early in the video I mistakenly say the S95B is Samsung's FIRST OLED TV. I meant to say it is their first QD-OLED display. Technically, they released a $9000 curved OLED in 2012/2013, though it can be argued that it didn't really achieve mass-production status. Nevertheless, my sincerest apologies for the slip up, and I apologize for any and all misunderstandings as a result.

My s95b broke after a month or so and samsuck is taking months to do anything about it I made a video about it go check it out

Steve Smith

I have to admit that going into this video I thought what I was going to see was yet another S95B hype video. Andrew you proved me so wrong! I will say that of all the videos I have watched on this tv this was one of the best reviews I have seen. You and Kristi called it right down the middle and basically said what I have thought about the S95B from day one. The only thing you didnt mention was build quality and the bent screens that alot of owners have brought up and which Samsung don't seem to care about because in my view this tv was rushed. But great great review on all levels.

from what I seen at stores & we all know how that goes I'd go for samsung 2 me brightness is best I have not bought due 2 size which I don't understand why only up 2 65"?..i got Samsung 8k 85" & with most content its 2 me best period.. hopefully Samsung will step up & make oled better & make 75" & 85" model..

I really wanted to buy the Sony A95k. I could stomach $500-$1000 difference. But I was able to get the 65" S95b for $1399… infact I also got my dad the 55" for $1120… I got 2 tv's for less money than 1 Sony. It's absolutely ridiculous. $1600 difference for DV and slightly better processing for the Sony. I just can't accept supporting that. It's not even the money. We HAVE to vote with our wallets. Can't encourage Greed like that

I just bought the Samsung S95B 65" with a 5 year warranty, it's whst I could afford the Sony A95K @ PC Richard's was $3000 . All I need is a good picture map and with my 2 jbl partybox 710 and I be good with that. Great video thank you.

My C9 has been replaced for the C2 due to burn in from Best Buy. At first I was jealous of the Samsung S95B but I will wait for OLED/QDOLED to naturally get brighter in the next 3 years instead of Samsung who chose to cut corners to get there. Sony QDOLED 2025 for me!

Brian Bloomfoeld

Great TV there are not many programs in Dolby digital and doesn't make the pictures any better really. Now for out the box you must set it up correctly for the best picture. TV Ratings.

Tech Samurai

Just a comment about Samsung's OLED technologies. This is their first QD OLED but the division that made it has been making OLED panels for laptops including as I discovered my Dell XPS.

They share a lot of similarities with the QD OLED display having an incredibly bright screen that's brighter than the vast majority of LED monitors. I use it in a very bright area with the windows facing it and I was so worried that it wasn't matte and OLED but it has some anti-reflective coating that's just crazy and better than my old matte laptop. In pure white videos from youtube, it seems to hit 800 nits sustained (burn in is almost guaranteed at full brightness and will happen quickly) and is clearly brighter than an iPad which hits an impressive 500 nits.

Anyway, the QD OLED seems to share a lot of the characteristics with those panels but of course it can't be as bright over the entire screen like a laptop can as it represents a 10% window of the TV.

When I found out that the screen was made by Samsung, I was wondering why they didn't make OLED TVs as they clearly possess the technology.

Falcon

I really liked how you talked about reviewing it vs living with it. Big difference. I was going back and forth on if this will be my next tv or if I'll replace my CX with whatever LG has when the time comes. This video helps!

SprungNickel

All Samsung TV products look like comic book realism that is overblown and hyped. LG sony are so much more realistic.

Hashan Gayasri

Thanks alot for mentioning the Smart Calibration feature!

The Raul Guerrero G

No Dolby visión? Hoo boy! That's a big no no for me. Samsung Is the worst

B. Burns

Warm 2 solves a lot of these issues. Well done review.

Carlos Bright

I love my Samsung S95B OLED 4K 55 inch Smart Television. Unfortunately, I paid $2,199.99 at Bestbuy in April 2022. Now it is selling for $1,449.99.

gregory goldbarth

Awesome review thank you so much. Out of curiosity what version firmware were you running when you critiqued the TV?

Sean Mychal

Oh man lol. So I just bought this online from Costco and debating between it and the LG C2. Now, I’m not a tv person and have only watched a few reviews and I guess what sold me was the QD aspect of it and how the colors are brighter but from the last couple reviews I have seen, it seems like I should have went with the LG C2. Seems like its interface is trash which is Tizen and from the previous Samsung I have it’s frustrating as hell, no Dolby Vision and seems like I need to do a bunch of calibrating just to get the picture right and even then I’m sacrificing other things. Should I cancel and get the LG C2!?

Francesco Pierre

Great review. Can't argue with anything said. That's Samsung's signature…

Taxdad

At 9:35 you called it Q95B so you may want to fix that. Was your screen bent like others have reported?

Mike Tarlton

I came from a 65C8 and I like the 65S95B but Samsung really needs to work on fixing the bugs as it's a mess with firmware 1403 that I'm on typing this. So bad that Samsung pulled the firmware update. The TV has a lot of potential and a firmware (ok with Samsung many firmware updates) away from having a picture closer to the Sony since we know what this panel is really capable of with the A95K. Samsung is purposely "juicing" the picture and should allow for an accurate picture in more than just Filmmaker mode. Many gamers like accurate picture quality as well and it's tough to dial in the game mode. What firmware was this TV on during the review?

justkiddin1980

I’d rather buy a minled which doesn’t burn in and doesn’t break with each “update”

rufdymond

I viewed all the top TVs from the main manufacturers including this one – I finally ended up with a shortlist of two, the Sony A95K and the Panasonic LZ2000. All things considered I went for the Panasonic, superb natural picture out of the box and great in built sound system. The Sony might have just edged the Panasonic in some aspects, but I’m talking minuscule amounts here, considering the Sony was almost £700 more it was no contest….100% happy with my purchase.

I can tell anyone that hasn’t seen the Panasonic (I know it’s not sold in the US) that even with all the hype about QD-OLED Panasonic have made a TV that pretty much matches the Sony, and in some ways betters it…..as said in this video the specs and the hype sometimes don’t always match up to what you see with your own eyes.

Tom Bartol

No dolby vision = dont buy

Elston Bell

I hear you Andrew. I was researching this and Sony's A95K and opted for the Sony. All the reviews suggest the Samsung offers better value for money but, surely the reason we upgrade the way we do is to get the best possible image? And after reading reports of bent screens and, perish the thought, screen burn in, I put the Samsung in my rearview mirror. I've yet to mount and fire the Sony up and I will post my initial thoughts here. Wish me luck Andy – this is my first upgrade since my trusty Pioneer Kuro! Great review.👍🥃

Mark Kindlen

I'd be really interested in how good the calibration is when done with a phone with the Samsung app compared to professional calibration equipment.

Rocky

I was always skeptical of first generation product. The next years version will be better and more refined. I think 4th gen of a product is where most common issues are sorted out and a product matures.

Custom Saber Paradise

Sometimes a TV can be too bright and can make the picture oversaturated and washed out, but I was massively underwhelmed by the lack of picture presets, Firmware issues, and no Dolby Vision. the Design was so plastic and cheap looking doesn't look premium.

wayne james

Very nice 👍 I've got a Toshiba 55" 4K and it sounds terrible worse than a transistor radio. Claims it's Onkyo sound. God job I run it through my surround. My old tube television was better picture .

George Dömse

Do I spy a pair of KEF LS60? 🙂

alex kollias

I hate blue image, I can't imagine how it is even brighter. This is why I don't like at all Samsung TVs.

Chris

Don't buy technology the first year it comes out.

Supreme TaaanXz

Personally the inaccuracies in colour and inability to keep the high light output without being throwing the colours entirely outta wack is bad but not something I feel the average consumer will care about, for me it’s the clear lack of detail. You are clearly an inferior product, whether at processing level or not, when one TV shows something and the other just doesn’t present it with any level of clarity… A shame. Sony and LG TVs are always a cut above and with good reason

Ty

i totally understand and respect your review and i keep and will keep watching them. I am one of those people who really likes the picture of this TV. I also have a Sony OLED so a LG panel also i can compare with. The upscaling and processing of the Sony is definately on a different level, but this also adds latency and other things that are poor for gaming. As for as movie watching the Sony wins, but for gaming the Samsung smashes it. Not to mention the 4 2.1 hdmi ports which for me does matter and i actually use all of them. I frankly couldn't stand the picture of the Samsung out of the box because it was just eye hurting too much. I was able to dial in after some time and work to something I really love. I wanted the QD-OLED pop and colors over my sony which is worth every penny and is very noticeable. I also couldn't justify the 2k higher price on the sony qd-oled with the same panel, especially once considering the gaming and HDMI improvement. I initially thought i might want to return the Samsung (build quality concerns mainly), but once i set it up to my liking and used it there was no way. It's good. Side note this has 0 banding (dirty screen effect or off axis tints) . This is something i notice every time i turn on the tv's because when i turn on the Sony and it's on a empty HDMI dark grey image the banding is atrocious. True its not really noticeable watching content but almost all LG's have these issues, some worse than others. S95b isn't perfect, no TV is but it is quite good at what it does and has pros for sure.
