How to Disable Ads on the Chinese Version of MIUI 13

Xiaomi is known for its incredibly affordable hardware and the company is able to offer these types of prices thanks to the number of ads shown in the firmware itself. Normally I would recommend you install a custom ROM, or even a modified version of MIUI from the likes of Xiaomi.eu, but I know that in some cases this just isn’t possible.

So in today’s video I want to show you most, if not all, of the ways you can disable the ads that you constantly see on your smartphone or tablet. I’ll be using the Redmi Note 12 today, and it has the chinese version of MIUI installed.

But many of these ads appear in the global variant of MIUI and these tips are applicable on devices with that version of the firmware as well. But if you notice things are drastically different for your version of MIUI, then let me know in the comments section below and I’ll look into doing a separate video for the global version of MIUI as well.

Sadly, there isn’t a single toggle that will eliminate all of the ads that appear within the operating system. That’s because many of these ad services are self contained within the application itself. For example, we can stop ads from showing up in the Downloads application by doing the following steps. . .

downloads – 3-dot menu – settings – content settings – show recommended – recommend popular

But this is only going to stop ads from being displayed in the Downloads application. So if we wanted to stop the ads from being displayed in the Mi Music application, then we need to. . .

mi music – profile tab – hamburger menu – general settings – other – recommendations/personalized ads

You can start to see a pattern here. So let’s go through the many places that ads appear in the China release of MIUI and stop these ads and recommended content from being displayed.
