WHY? does my car insurance go up when the value of my car is going down. if you have a wreck and your car value is $15,000 they are not going to spend $20,000 to fix the car you love. they are going to total it and give you check. when you bought your car it cost $35,000. So why doesn't the cost of the insurance go down as the value of the car decreases???? I guess if the insurance companies had thought about it they would decrease the cost as the car got older……they just didn't think of it.
In Florida you can request that the county if someone is trying to fraudulently sell your house or take control of your house at no cost
I normally champion the way my son parents has kids. However, I recently was called out by him for talking with his eighteen-year-old son about the reality of the cost of car insurance and income tax on his earnings. . I can't imagine at what age he thinks his daughter should be informed ?! I am shocked that kids are not told these realities at age 15… not to frighten them but just to as a matter of fact understand how the world works.
Thank you, Clark! Regarding surgeons shadowing: In hospital where I worked, even hospital employees had to request the permission to b in the OR with the surgeon & that process usually took several weeks. Of course, if someone wants to shadow the surgeon during boring hated by all surgeons clinic hours, they can do that but will not get a feel what being a surgeon really entails.

hitting a parked car: What if you leave and there is a video of you leaving the site of an accident? eeesh
Mr Howard, you are considered old-fashioned, by today's standards. Most of these parents want their children to be coddled and taken care of until they're finally out the door forever.
My family and relatives did not do that, because we didn't have a lot of money, so if you wanted something. Your parents could not buy it. So you had to get a job. But that's considered old-fashioned.
Excellent points on what a part-time job teaches you.
I’ve said this for 40 years.
Luckily, in college four summers in a row, I work full-time at a relatively large bank.
The pay wasn’t outlandish, but it was a lot more than minimum wage.
I learn more there than I ever did any college course
All my kids started working at age 14, at a local private swim club. They were paid less than minimum wage, I think it was like 550 or six an hour. But it was a lot more than most other 14 year olds were making and it taught them good work ethic.
They’ve all had jobs continuously since then
In my area I do see a lot of kids that work, but the percentage certainly is down.
We were shocked by USAA renew in Florida for two vehicles one twenty year and one year old $1600 for six months changed old to pip only
Thank you Team Clark.
our agent (state farm in florida) told us that rates were increasing due to lawsuits, illegals and inflation.
Who hires at 15? We are in New Jersey and have a rough time finding a job for my 15 year old son. Labor laws only allow baby sitting at 15.
One danger of filing in small claims court is that in some jurisdictions, the respondent can petition to have the case moved to a regular court where you will most likely want to be represented by a lawyer. If no one will take the case on contingency, it can be very expensive, especially if the respondent files a counter suit claiming you were at fault and seeking damages from you.
My wife and I recently shopped for auto insurance. Very important you compare apples to apples many companies will advertise a lower price than what you are currently paying, but when you look at the coverage it is absolutely terrible. Anyway after shopping for auto insurance we found if we compared apples to apples everyone was basically the same price within twenty dollars a month.
Well I haven’t even had an accident. Colorado pays foe all the illegal drivers that don’t even have driver’s licenses. They need to lock these people up and deport them they just do what they want and Colorado allows them to drive and dies nithing
My older teen got a job when she was 15 and it was the best thing for her. She absolutely loves it and put it on her college application. My younger teen can’t wait till she’s old enough to work.
Too bad there aren't paper delivery jobs. I had tto collect money.
My insurance renewal went up about 35% this January, with a company that had normally increased it by about 10% a year. The excuse from them is I drive a lot more. Duh, one car hasn't even gotten 3K miles on it this past year, while the other got 18K miles, but no tickets and no accidents. Shopped about eight other well known reputable insurance companies, same exact coverage, and the one picked kept me at my current insurance premium level, with 'annual renewal', versus '6 month renewals". Yuck!
Learned several things:
1. Go the specific insurance company's website for a quote, not an aggregator type site. Why? Because I got one rate for Progressive when I quoted through their website. I got a much higher premium, when Progressive was recommended, by one of those aggregator sites, same coverage. Which clearly means that 'aggregator' site added their commission to the deal.
2. If you have current coverage, once you put your basic information in, the quoting sites already know your current coverage (forgot the name of the database company they use). So an insurer will give you 'multiple' quotes, with some only providing minimum coverage. But price savings is tempting, but, "NO".
3. Last of all and the worse item. The premium quote they give you is contingent on how you will pay them. If you let them pull from your checking account (which I never do), then the quote you get is correct. But if you want to charge it on your credit card for example, I had a quote that increased almost $130 a year, plus the monthly transaction fee of $5.
4. It was clear that some of the companies were getting information on how many miles I drive. I suspect from repair shops, etc. So if you thought you had privacy by NOT getting the monitoring dongle. Well, you don't!
Of the quotes I got, one was nearly twice as much as the one I finally took. So you must shop it!
Too much influence from outsiders that have changed our culture. From the top down
Stop thinking and having the mindset that America is still a Christian Nation with values and moral ethics.
It really is disappointing that so many teens not only don't have jobs but have no interest even wanting one. I believe it's the result of parents never saying "no" to their spoiled kids, then wondering why their 30+ year old children haven't moved out and continue to mooch off them.
Car insurance rates went up because of the hundred of thousand illegal immigrants are driving, hence the increase of reckless driving. Third world countries do not have traffic controls unless in a major city.
All excellent advice!
