Oh boy samsung doing samsung things with making 2 phones where the build is better on the regular base model and the ultra has an inconvenient curve to make it hard to get a good screen protector then applying said screen protector just for ur phone to lightly get tapped on the edge so it cracks anyways. No suprise why apple is killing them and other androids being better options. They need to go back to their roots and make no compromised builds again. Micro sd, headphone jack with a dac, and air gestures was nice on s4 active but im stretching it a bit here. They really hurt themselves on the s22 ultra and i dont think this s23 ultra is going to help (its what the s22 ultra should have been) hopefully their fold&flip gets a periscope (and the flip gets dex!!!)

i bought the s-view case for my s23 ultra ; i "really" like the case ; the feel of it to me is like the rubberized armor feel like some of the flashlights have ; the pocket on the front flap allows one credit card , drivers license , etc in it and still be able to close the case , i got the standup wireless charger and even in the case , the phone had no problems charging ; the case is some what thick and very sturdy IMO but that brings up the two issues i have with ; #1 — the two buttons on the side are not adequately thick enough to reach the buttons of the phone so consequently you will need to use a little bit more pressure on them to make contact with the phone buttons ; #2 — i have no fingernails , the case at the bottom is just thick enough to prevent me from pulling the s-pen out ; i have to use some type of flat edge to get the pen out far enough for my fat little fingers to grab it ; 😄the ultra phone came with a sim key device to open the slot to put your sim card into so that is what i use to get to the s-pen and it fits very nicely into the front flap pocket .

Hopefully the glass is actually strong.
Have a s21+
Worst glass I've ever seen.
So many small scratches and it has 3 micro cracks and this phone lives in my pocket or in my work locker.
Have a s9+ that I carry in my other pocket 24/7 because aux cord. And it-s screen is brand new.
Anytime I see new 'gorilla glass' that's 'new & improved' I immediately say bullshit.

XerXi

Ultra screen is 6.8"

Beatbox Hitman

I want to know who uses these phones without a case anyway.

TMProjection

ultras curved edges really put me off it, cant get a proper tempered glass that seamlessly applies to it

swear theyre doing this on purpose

Maybe it's because Linus is so annoying so he sets the bar very low for everyone else but this guy is nice to listen to.

I was one to bitch about expandable storage until I found put it was useless to me. I only need it for my 50gb downloaded library frol spotify/apple music, but my music gets f*ed and not recognised by the app, regardless of how good an sd card I use. So I just bought a phone with no expandable storage😅

Black color is best for devices.

oh shit I was just there yesterday haha

I'm confused. You mention in almost every video that we're not getting 5g, yet my phone almost always says 5g, and I'm getting faster speeds than I was with 4g LTE. Did I miss a video explaining this?

CosmeticFear

I'm pretty sure all three S23 devices have the 8g2 For Galaxy SoC, not just the Ultra.

Samsung themselves are listing it as such on their website, last I checked.

jonah

Hey, thanks for the video. Very tempting to get the S 23 as the only reason I didn’t get the S 22 last year was because of the battery but it seems like they fix that but I promise I’ve already bought a pixel seven and there is no trading on the pixel seven and I was the sell it I wouldn’t get much for it because pixel are going on sale so I have to take quite a hit by a S 23 anyway it looks like a great Phone.

Can't stop staring at that diasthema.

This guy cracks me up

First video with this host i have seen at LTT. You are nice to listen to, some dry jokes and not too cynical unlike some other recent hosts. More of you please.

Pyro-Lyro

What makes me not go for the s23 ultra is the 45w fast charger. Other producers have 100w+ now. Yes it damages your battery over time but i switch phones once a year. Yes i have a s22 ultra

Chandler Tollison

One feature I use is the super slow mo 960fps, they made it worse on the S21 ultra compared to the S9+. Just curious what that features looks like on this new device

No modern flagship is worth the price. 2K for a phone that offers no expandable storage, removable battery capabilities, or even an IR Blaster? I use an Amazon Renewed Note20 Ultra 5G (US variant) in Canada and it's magnificent, but I wouldn't pay what it costed on the day it released, as I believe phones these days are seriously overpriced, and considering how cheap it is to manufacture single units, components cost increases called for.
But, to be fair, you also have to understand incentive: consumers have become more okay with getting less if the marketing can justify just how they are getting more, and the high pricing in itself is part of that marketing. It's a statement, not just a business necessity. Two thousand dollars is what Apple, Samsung, and the others says is the normal asking price nowadays, and on Sammy's side, they're justifying it with the foldables and flips. It really is interesting. I remember a few years back when we got some of the first flagships ever to exceed one thousand dollars, and that was all the rage and rave. Of course, more people are freer with their money when it comes to content these days (Netflix, Spotify, Prime, etc.) and the best ways to experience such content happens to include the highest-end devices capable of taking full advantage if these platforms' offers. When the S6 came out – and that was a massively successful device alongside the likes of the Galaxy S3, S4, and S9, and the Note20 Ultra (all phenomena in commercial and/or popularity-related ways) – the 6 or 7 hundred US dollars it costed seemed worth it, though still very pricy. Crazy we're already at more than 3x that, and in another few years will be close to 2,500 CAD as a normal asking price. Children won't believe parents that tell them flagship phones used to cost about the same as a PS2 or about 9 large Pizza Hut/Nova boxes with delivery and taxes. Ultimately, while I would never waste money at full price on a modern flagship, I still respect the design and advancements, and wouldn't be opposed to waiting years down the line to buy or getting them Renewed, although even the former is an issue because the devices are difficult to get pre-owned at decent prices these days. You have second hand, un-refurbished phones that come with no box, charger, or accessories being sold at full price or close, and sometimes exceeding, and you just have to question the quality of crack cocaine the sellers are munching.

Great voice man!

As a long time Samsung phone fan, they've gone off the deep end. The Pixel line is such a more reasonable proposition with cost and performance. Samsung needs to rethink trying to emulate Apple costs for flagships.

It'll take a lot for me to go back to the ridiculous pricing of most modern flagships after the recent Pixels.

I opened a samsung galaxy s22 ultra and found they could of put a headphone jack into that phone

Hugo Wells

It says on the website the s23 and plus only going down to 48hz

Duckily The Lovely

Ah, I remember when I bought a note 2 back in the day. came with headphones, a charger, and I could easily replace the battery at any time.
Was the best.

Westley Hunt

Check out the bloatware this phone got, damn…

kyle009 00

If they give the S23+, same main camera as the ultra, 1-120hz display, then it may make some sense with the $1000 price tag. Comparing to other android phone or even iPhone 14 pro, this phone is so overpriced.

Sage Brewer

the new flatter sides of the ultra, and the shade of green, are awesome. i'd for sure consider this if/when i don't want my fold anymore. way better green shade than my greygreen tbh

Maheer Kibria

See samsung is the company that convinced me to go to iPhone. Which is sad. They have a a lot of good stuff like Dex which is the best mobile desktop experience out there but their updates. It keeps breaking then fixing then breaking stuff. Like one update and my notifications stop coming then another 3 updates later it finally works again then they break tab groups 3 updates later they add it back but it reorganized my tabs into new groups on its own without asking me. Then suddenly my battery is draining super fast a few updates later its fine again. Samsung needs to get their device support figured out because as long as they don't I am not buying one of their phones.

czibbell74

I love the s-pen. I've had a couple of Notes, and I'm currently using an S21 Ultra, simply because it can use an s-pen. HOWEVER, I will NOT be replacing my S21 Ultra with another Samsung device. I'm over Samsung's anti-right-to-repair practices. And the current trend of bundling a common part with a more expensive part, so you're forced to buy both is not the right answer. It's wasteful and irresponsible on Samsung's part, and doesn't get you any pro-consumer points in my book.
And the fact that you can't unlock the bootloader on Samsung phones is another annoying issue.
So, my next phone is already picked out, and it's not a Samsung.
