Live: Visit the 800-year-old shipwreck at the Maritime Silk Road Museum of Guangdong
Maritime Silk Road Museum of Guangdong is an underwater archaeology museum in Yangjiang, south China’s Guangdong Province. It is the home of Nanhai One, an 800-year-old ancient Chinese merchant vessel that shows ancient China’s foreign trade history along the Maritime Silk Road during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). CGTN’s Tides of Change crew visits the museum to explore the stories behind it. #TidesofChange

thumbs up to jayoe nation!!!
Kool 👍
great great job for Matt and JingJing
To be honest, I wish more Westerners were submissive like this one.
Spice came from Sulawesi, Hemp from hills of IndoChina, Guangxi, Yunnan, Fish sauce from Vietnam, Fujien.
Teak & Gems was & is from Burma.
Pretty cool in the ancient era.
🤗
Stevedoring…..
….started in China?
🤥
In the old days, salary was fixed for certain trades. One tael (两) per month or 1000 copper (铜戗).
But the home was clan built, clothes can only be hemp or silk. Furniture, they made themselves with wood.
So they traded food, eating utensils and cloth.
🥰
Old days PILLAR INDUSTRY, Zhejiang was Silk & Cooking wine, Jiangxi was & is porcelain, Fujien was & is Tea.
Guangdong then was very prosperous, not like today products of manufacture BUT food. Rice, cured pork, dried Seafood, salted fish, salted vegetables, citrus and trading entreport.
🤣🥰🤩
So many porcelain shipwreck…..
…each with tens of thousand cargo. Shows how wealthy China was in pre 1200, pre 明代.
So we know, the sea route is well known. Only FACTOR changing was the FALL OF THE YUAN. (元代).
THIS CAUSE BOTH EUROPE and CHINA to bypass the Mongol hordes and their taxes.
🤣🤗
CGTN is going to offer Matt a position.
Thanks Jingjing, Matt, Experts and CGTN! Very interesting! I Will visit this museum in the near future!
Matt is excellent on this show!
The English translation at the oyster farm was even worse.
Thank you for the sharing. Thank you for the great works being performed; some 20+ years already! Question 1 – The excavation works now performing is on dry land. Is the site being "dry dock" whereby the water are being pumped out after building a "dam enclosure around the artifact"?
CGTN, your on line streaming English translation can be improved. It is hard to understand. The translator speaks in low voices. He speaks too quickly. In fact, you are better off not having the on line streaming translation if this is the standard. If I have problems, I bet many non Chinese people have even more problems trying to comprehend your translators.
Great job Matt👍👏
China's been traveling around the world by sea peacefully to share knowledge and prosperity since ancient times.
Jingjing XOXO 💖😍🥰🥰🥰
