Love this video. Having just started fishing in July, your channel has been SUPER helpful. I must be learning something because when I went out last Sunday, I used every single one of those lures. The big winner was the buzzbait. I scored a massive bass. Wish I had a scale, but I would venture to guess it was at least 4lbs and for a beginner, it was awesome. Looking forward to the future videos and getting out fishing this weekend.

Gene. I do this for less hang ups on lipless crankbait: on the front treble hook, cut off one hook . Hold the bait still and the front trble will balance off and be still. and you will see one of the three hooks that face forward. That;s the one you cut with a strong heavy duty fish pliers

I throw everyone of those baits on the same 7'3 med. fast spinning rod with the same 20# braid and catch fish

Yesterday, I caught an 8.1 lbs largemouth using the Janky rig, as your son named it. Med-light spinning rod, 15lbs braid to an 8lbs fluorocarbon leader. It was a fun fiight! Thanks for the video, and thanks for recommending rods. What's your thoughts on a jig and frog this time of year? That is two techniques that I'll be honest, I'm not comfortable with but I want to get there and I need to just lock them in my hands go gain confidence.

It is great to have you back on the regular Gene. I grew up fishing for bass but with a bobber and a worm. I didn't do any fishing for anything for like 10-15 years, then a few years ago my daughter wanted to learn how to fish. Now wr live in the PNW where salmon steelhead trout and sturgeon are the popular targets, but i knew i wanted her to learn how to catch bass because they are so much stinking fun. Well i wound up on a YouTube tangent for like 6 hours. That's how i found you, your now my go to when it comes to learning a new technique or honing in a technique. Don't get me wrong the tactical guys, Glenn may, TRF, bassfishing Hq, and Chad Hoover all have great teaching videos but i definitely have caught more fish from what you've taught me then all the others combined, in fact my wife's favorite way to fish she learned when i showed her your drop shot video from about 8 years ago. I know you were having a hard time this last year and I want to say I'm truly glad you are back, you look happy again, and thank you for all that you do. And thank you for for service to our country
I like to take a red sharpie to a gold or silver buzz bait blade. I will either color one side or just the bent ends.
Good stuff gene! And I like the fact that you mentioned fishing up north. Cuz it seems like a lot if not 90% of any fishing video especially the monthly ones are tailored to the middle part of the country or south. Also I like the fact that you're doing it at least a week ahead of that month. Opposed to a week into or halfway into said month
