Here is how you deal with cheating. Easy fix they should put motion cameras in various places on lakes just as hunters do for deer etc without letting anyone know that they have done so.

I caught a guy cheating on Lake Fork. He cut the tail to make it go under 16”. I call the tournament director and told him to keep an eye out for the guy in the photo I sent him. To make a long story short,he failed the lie detector test and was banned from fishing that circuit.
When you cheated when I was young you wouldn't have windows or tires before you left…..I promise those guys don't show up at the ramp anymore lol

You know. I've heard about these kind of things throughout my life. I always kind of thought it was kind of funny. But the older i get i realize how serious it is. Allot of guys put allot of time and money into this tournament fishing and try to support there family's from this. It's a job. I would be really upset especially if i was fishing in the tournaments against these guys that cheat. Knowing you wouldhave won it the cheater didn't win. If you got caught stealing money at a regular 9-5 Job will get fired and probly arrested. Unless you are a politition or a governer ect…lol then it's swept under the rug. But yes these guys need to be made examples of.

I was in pretty big tournament, regional type event. Fishing on a river system, 95 degrees in July, so weights to win and advance was low. I think on boater side, 12 something lbs. Won tournament. 6 something won co angler side, I was co angler. So on co angler side of you caught 2 fish you where in top 20. So you got to advance to nationals, points for year also, plus pretty good check. Top 40 from each side got paid. So my boater caught 3 , so I'd say total he had like 7 and change, I caught 2, I had lb and half fish, but 2nd fish weighed 3 and half good fish for conditions. We get to weigh in, I go get truck back it down to get boat out water, so I did. Before I got to truck I stopped checked us in, and got 2 weight bags. So we pull boat out, he's in boat I'm, on the ground. I had him 2 bags, and start get in the boat, he says I already got it. And pulls out my fish, already in a weigh in bag. Then takes his bag out, fish already in weigh in bag. He boogies on up to stage, while I'm standing there like wtf is going on here. I weigh in 2 fish for 3 and change. He weighed in almost 10 lbs, and came in like 8th. He switched my bigger, with one his dinks. I made 450$, but look in this series rule book, in bold black letters, it says, boater never touchs the co anglers live well box, and he never touches yours after fish have been put in both boxes. Each angler is responsible for keeping his fish alive, and etc. How he got 2 series weigh in bags I don't know. Just saying …… cheating goes on in lot ways unfortunately.

I was in this tournament. I remember this guy getting into a Game Wardens truck and being hauled away. We were told he was arrested but they may have dropped the charges. He was casting over his lines and telling his co angler he had to stay on the back deck. He would act like he had a fish on but the fish hung him up, then he would go up to the fish and reach in the water releasing the fish from the line and acting like he caught the fish. We were told he actually weighed in two fish but who knows. If I am not mistaken, I think he was convicted of something but its been so long ago I cant remember. Also we were told he was using like 6lbs test not braid and he would just reach in and break the line and pull the fish up. Stories change over the years but one thing I can say for a fact. This did happen.

Here’s the biggest thing I understand that you know more boaters more money, bigger, events, more events! But when you got people that are coming in from out of state, you really don’t know who these people are and you can have somebody in a bass club that you never hear nothing out of them unless they win And honestly clubs should know who they’re dealing with before they let you win it. I think you should have to go through a background check and if there’s anything ever sketchy to where you’re a fucking sneak, where is though you’re a thief, or you’re just a funny fucking person that can’t just enjoy a great day on the water, my thing is this supposed to be something of great motivation and ventures to show your children that a trip on the water could be one of the greatest moments of your life and people say how can being on the water be one of the greatest moments of your life it’s a memory it’s a day that stays marked in your mind for decades, I still remember catching my very first big fish 13 years ago and I had to use a 35 pound motor with four batteries one day in a tournament and I won biggest fish!!!! so I got me a tournament legend bait casting rod and it was a Jirkbaits edition 66 I paid $60 in the tournament and $20 for the biggest fish and I won a $380 rod and I got to fish all day long and enjoy myself and I remember it like I was a little boy that hit a home run to win the game. Take care of everybody.

I was there at this tournament. I fished with this guy's amateur partner the day after he was caught cheating. I know how and what went on. The cheater used a flipping stick with a hook tied to the tip of the rod. He then would catch the line and wrap it up around the rod tip with hook and yank like he was setting hook. The line would break from the stump and he had the fish yanked 8nto boat. He cut the line from the mouth and then turned and put it into the live well. Trying to fool his am partner into thinking he caught it legal. Yes his am KNEW what was going on after the 2nd time he did this. But his partner was actually in fear for his life. He was afraid if he said anyting that he may have been drowned are attacked by this guy. He told me this was the worst day of his life that he had ever had sitting in the boat with this desperate cheater. Sad part what's the fish that he was cheating with we're not even big enough to make him a check. He also had sponsorship. His boat had a wrap from Applebee's restaurant on it. I have a lot more detail on this cheater but I'm going to let this go right now with this basic.

You don't have a lot of the information correct. I fished against him multiple times. He was even on camera doing this. They still couldn't catch him. I know exactly how he was cheating.

They are banned for life, and cannot enter any fishing tournament in the country.
The authorities will never allow them to buy a fishing license and their equipment (including boat/kayak etc) and donated to charity.
