My car has about 350k miles on it. About 350k because I needed a new, used instrument cluster. The thing looks like a demolition derby car. Recycled derby car. It runs like a striped ~*** ape. So, I am keeping it maintained and on the road. Maybe it will outlast this market madness.

Jeff Lilyea

Easy fix, don't buy anything

PersepolisSD

Buying a car was never a good deal. Now it's just a really really really really really really bad one😂

TheBrownSys

The video production on this was just fantastic. Good stuff Scotty! Really enjoy watching your videos.

I just picked up a 4th car 2013 Avalon from my parents who sold it to me at low trade in price. They replaced it with a 2016 Avalon with 20,000 miles. They only paid $25,000!

That means I'm going to be selling one car and it looks as if I will get around $1500 more than I paid for the 2009 Honda Fit I bought more than 3 years ago! Not only that but I suspect it will sell very fast as there aren't many others on the market.

I've been very fortunate having two older family members sell me their cars this year at a price that is almost a charity donation. I wasn't even looking to buy! Ha!

Franklin Maldonado

this is a topic that really stress me, simply because i have a 2008 Honda pilot with 293,000 miles on it and its burning a lot of oil… just waiting for the day the car will be done for good…

Kumane Cherry

Shopping in this market is horrible. They are forcing you to buy dealer packages and etc. literally $5000 or more over MSRP

drgonzo

We did it, Joe!

john Laughlin

American companies are doubling down with $6 per gallon with SUV

Robert Paulis

Remember "cash for clunkers"????
Someone knew something!

The problem with cars in my opinion is all the electronics, heated seats, rear and side view cameras and lane assist, backup camera, dvd and media hook ups, touch screens, electronic lit up dashboards, and all this stuff costs you extra and a vehicle without those still gets you to the same place. All this stuff makes your car more expensive because people want more and more. Consumer greed begets producer greed. You want more it’s gonna cost you more.

Peter Ghai

Cars are for the rich.

Hany Aboul-Ela

Great video. Thank you for explaining the root cause of the issue.
The only point I think may have not been mentioned about buying a car now is buying cars with some government tax benefits that will expire soon, example BEVs or PHEVs. Hence waiting is a disadvantage.

BikerAddict

I just sold my 2016 Chevy Spark for more that 15,000 bucks, I only paid 11,000 for it brand new. I will wait for a couple years before buying a new one.

Paul Melnychuk

Your right it's all the governnents fault.

Richard Sleeve

And now when the market has shifted to SUVs, gas prices are going crazy. Also, a lot of people complain that oh we should just make more chips? What's the problem? But the time from order to shipment on chips is 3+ months (it literally takes that long to make one). And factories take years to build. There have been plenty of articles on this, but the global shortage started with the auto makers. They cut orders, chip makers cut production, home electronics skyrocketed, then car sales picked up drastically. This is where 100% efficiency is dangerous. There was no slack in the system. And that's why Toyota and others have been ahead. There is a sweet spot for too much or too little stockpile. The even bigger problem? We shouldn't be paying this much for a price drop commodity, but if we don't buy them… See above. We only make the situation worse.

TonalHarmony

A stolen election has consequences. Don't expect anything to get better until the criminals are brought to justice.

Thank you Scotty for the explanation! I drive a 2014 Honda Odyssey. It’s 8 years old but has never given me any major problems. Only had to change the battery and it’s low mileage 80,000. I plan to drive it longer. My husband has his own vehicle but thinks it’s a good idea to sell my van and buy something new. He just wants me to always have the best in life but I don’t need a new vehicle. I will show him this video. Thank you 🙏

Lonn Roberts

what do you think about trading in a crossover for a sedan becuase of high gas prices?

Ander Ander

May get like it was in world war 2 where people literally can't afford the rubber and gas to drive a car.

Tone Faulcon

I’m conflicted. Have a 2015 Volvo XC 60 with 80k miles. Maintenance has been killing me the past few years, averaging 2.8k per year. Now they’re saying 3k to replace the rack and pinion. Thinking about picking 2022 Toyota Venza, but prices are so high. I’m pretty stumped on my next move.

J.R.

This could also be a video for why Democrats are a disease..

Gilbert Arciniega

I had thoughts about selling a car I hardly use. 2013 camaro RS v6. 95k miles.

TheVertigoalley

Yep, totally agree that you’re better off waiting…the 2021 hybrid I bought last year was totaled a month ago. I’d pay 10k more for the same car today.

Great video

zippoar88

Hi Scotty I want to buy the cheapest GOOD New sedan , Kia Hyundi, Toyota, Nissan which of the cheaper cars should I stay away from and which ones to buy ..18 to 23 ,000 thousands

Kelvin G

Great video

caelan maeder

I bought my Infiniti Q50 dream car right before this inflation of prices so I got it for 27 31 after taxes and could sell it for 31-33k rn. After I put 30,000 miles on it. But I would have to buy another crazy expensive car so mehh i dont know

JL M

Humans are so dumb. We continually create and propagate situations that harm us unnecessarily. Every "bubble" in every market is caused by supply and demand imbalances. To correct that, all us humans have to do is demand less until supply matches or catches up with demand. If gas prices are rising–all we have to do is drive less–which is easy for most of us to do–and collectively we will bring down the price of gas. Same with this car bubble. If more people just hung back, waited for things to settle down and reset–there would be no bubble and prices wouldn't be rising. But people are selfish by nature so we keep engaging in behaviors that harm not only ourselves–but our entire society. Would I like a new car? Sure. Can I afford a new car? Yes. Do I really NEED a new car? No. So, I'll just wait a year or two and not feed the frenzy.

Man Adam

Now I'll never own a decent truck or a house. I might as well live homeless and just enjoy my freedom at the parks. No point in working if it doesn't pay enough to get the things I really want.

Kreuzritter Gottes

we have already passed the good inflation a year ago. this is all part of the great reset. fjb

Thedoctoroa 75

I noticed the cars that are 10-20 years old that are manual are relatively cheaper

Chris Courage

What's sad is in some cases, the cost of a new vehicle can be cheaper than a used version of the same car that's 4 years older.

Flynn Yoder

I just bought a Civic that will double the gas mileage of the truck I'm looking to sell, and I got it for only $1600 where I'm trying to sell my truck for 7k. It just takes a little more looking on Craigslist and FB Marketplace, but the deals are still out there

Nick Gay

The shopping experience is terrible

Daniel J

I had a 2019 VW GLI with a manual that I owed the bank $17k. I traded it in for a 22 Tacoma SR5. The dealer gave me 26k for my GLI when i bought it in 2019 it was $27k. My new monthly payment is now less than I was paying prior for a truck. Wild.

Tim B

Car dealers got greedy during the pandemic. There is no shortage. I drive by dealerships every day and see many cars. The lots are full! The "shortage" is completely made up…

Kyoto Ben

So expensive to buy a used car now. Seems any car under 10k is a scam

Matthew Bracken

the goverment is crushing old cars !

travis moore

Just put a raspberry pie in a car.

Thomas Haas

In September 2019, I bought a 5 year old (2014) Toyota Camry with 55k miles for $13k.

When I look up 2017 Toyota Camry's with 55k miles, they're priced at almost $20k.

And lets not forget that when you buy cars from the dealership, since inventory is so scarce, they're not going to let you buy them without the warranties. There are more customers than there are cars. If you're not going to buy the extended warranties, the person behind you WILL so we'll just sell it to them.

DCs59

It's all about greed simple as that. Nothing else. We like the label things everything but what it is

Dark seasoning

Had an 05 Colorado bought it for 8 grand at 140,000 miles about a year later I sold it because I was being deployed for a year and didn’t want to worry about it. Sold it to the original dears sister location for 6500 at 210,00 miles. All things considered I think I made out pretty well.

Francis Marion

UN Agenda 2030 Build Back Better. They don't want more gas vehicles going on the road,
they want less. This is an engineered shortage.

Narci

We should really think about boycotting buying new / used cars…!!!
