Fall and spring is the time for me as well , I find mid morning bite is better then early morning

Do you ever float fish with big marabou jigs like they do out west? I caught some nice winter steelhead this past year on them. I haven't tried them yet this fall because I've had good success with beads, but I feel like marabou jigs are slept on here in Michigan
