Samsung’s Watch 5 Pro is nearly identical to the Watch 5, but with a few major differences. The question becomes, are these differences worth $170?

ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
APPEARANCE
40 and 44mm vs only 45mm
5 has graphite and silver in both sizes, plus gold in 40mm and sapphire in 44mm
5 pro only has black and grey
Chunkier Pro model but sportier as well
Hides bezel slightly better, but still not well
Neither have rotating bezel, but GW5 Pro has better finger reference for digital bezel

FUNCTIONALITY
Protected bezel seriously goes a long way. I already damaged my GW5 and my GWA2
Titanium vs Aluminum body
Both have sapphire crystal display but Pro is more durable – 29GPa vs 24GPa
Display sizes are identical for 44mm and 45mm watches
Battery life is nearly double in my experience
25% in a 4 mile run with music on the Watch 4

Same RAM, storage, processor, health sensors, UI,

Software differences? These feel like updates inbound
Track Back
Route loading (can do with Komoot anyway)

PRICE
$450+ vs $280/$310+

Get Galaxy Watch 5 if you want smaller watch, more subtle design, want to save money
Get Galaxy Watch 5 Pro if you want longer battery life and more durability but money is no object. The GPX route imports are nice too, but there are apps that can do that on the non-pro model. Alternatively, the Galaxy Watch 4 may be a great option for many as it has the same chip inside and nearly identical specs across the board but includes a physical rotating bezel

This generation isn't worth upgrading to, srsly give us more ram storage and faster processing and bring us a improved OS

II Parachute Regiment

Does anyone know if you can use Samsung Pay+ Curve on Samsung Galaxy Watch 5????

Marqueeexotic

I bought the 44mm watch 5 for a gift for my dad's birthday knowing him he doesn't go hiking or camping outside so watch 5 pro is out of context here

Captain Candycorn

I went with the 44mm watch 5. The pro is just way too bulky and overkill for a daily watch. Battery life has been great, however I dont see why people take issue charging their watch every night as their phone is already on the charger. Samsung sent their dual wireless charger with the watch for free as a pre order bonus, so I just toss my watch and phone on it every night. However I also just ordered the new Amazfit GTR 4 to compare it to, and from my experience with the GTR 3 Pro the Amazfit kills it for the price and I like the looks more.

As far as the Watch 5 goes, throw a Ringke sport case on it with their metal bezel and you have a perfect smartwatch. I got the set for 14 bucks and a set of 39.5mm glass screen protectors from aliexpress for 3 dollars shipped. They fit perfectly inside the metal ring and the watch is bulletproof.

Nick Nikes

You getting everything with the basic five watch except for everything that matters you know the durability the battery life you don't need something durable that sits on your wrist every day especially if you're a man with a man's career

I M

Better get watch 4 , doing almost same thing at more than half price

Farouk Aminu

Another day of watching videos of products I can not afford.🤐

RL Proctor

I just bought the Galaxy Watch 4 4 months ago, I love the watch but the battery life I'm charging it every night. I might just upgrade to the 5

Samsung should make a regular model..a pro model.. and a classic model.. would make a nice thing to add a classic 5 for the rotating bezel

So like..3 differnt model if possible to appeal to the classic rotating bezel users…casual user..and sports user

Well that and the rotating bezel does look nice

theoneandonlyMJ

I want the pro. It is completely too big and aesthetically too male. It completely sticks out over my wrist.

Hoara Vlad

The galaxy watch 5 pro is nor worth it it no longer has the rotating bezel. Its like the note (aka s22 ultra) whitout the pen. the most unique feature for the samsung watches was the bezel why should i upgrade from my galaxy watch 1 46 mm, i waited for the 5 but i waited in vain.

Sharjeel Shahzad

Samsung should've given the pro body temperature sensors, 2GB RAM and upper the storage to 32 or 64GB and maybe a 47mm opition giving u slightly larger screen and slimmer bezel.

Ronnie Thomas

Although I love the rotating bezel of the 4 classic the battery tradeoff on the 5Pro is well worth the trade off for me. I'm heavy user between notifications, workouts and GPS and my 4 classic would barely make it a day and that's with me sticking it on the charger for a quick charge during the day. With the 5Pro and same usage I charge every 3 days. With the watch 4 classic I charged 7days a week with the 5Pro I charge twice a week.

Kristie Smith

I use Google Wallet a lot, so I need to have a lockscreen on. My biggest gripe is that mine keeps locking several times a day. My Galaxy 4 I had to unlock in the morning & then it didn't require an unlock the rest of the day. I have the band on tight, not sure why the sensors think I have the watch off several times a day? It's annoying.

Griffin

I have a Watch 3 classic and didn't see a need to upgrade to the 4 even though it ran Wear OS. Samsung has a promo where you can trade in a smartwatch in any condition (physically. still needs to turn on and function).
I couldn't pass it up, as I still had the Gear Sport sitting in my closet. Ended up getting $75 credit towards the GW5. I like having Wear OS with all the Google apps vs. Tizen. I do miss the rotating bezel.
I'm happy with the watch so far.

Hi Mike, I love your videos btw. Keep up the great work. With the new iwatch and fitbits coming up. What do you think is the best allrounder on the market right now?

ljacobs357

I upgraded from the 44mm Watch 4 to the Watch 5. I walk, cycle and do stair stepping. So the regular 5 is fine for me. Got a good price with the Samsung trade in offer. Better battery life and more accurate heart rate and sleep tracking were the main reasons. There are tweaks to extend battery life. I get a full two days with moderate use and sleep tracking turned on.

Damien S

5 pro. all day

Jason McKinney

Great review, Mike. I traded the GW4 (44mm) for the GW5P for the very reasons you presented in the video. I am keeping my GW4C for dressing up and church. Keep up the excellent work and be blessed.

ChoccyMilk

I've been looking for a smart watch, but not sure which would be the best fit. I need one with an ECG, because I have heart issues and need to regularly track it. I do exercise, but nothing major — mostly just running and biking here and there. Any recommendations?

Kristjan

So basically the quality/design choices are still shit. My Active 2 looks it came out of war and I've barely even worn it.

Jenn Figueroa

Can anyone address if the fall detection feature works well on this watch ?
Ty

Arnold Mbuthia

Still not as good as Apple watches

Linn Bengtsson

I hade decided to get a smartwatch and cant decide witch one so do you have a recomendation? Im looking for a watch that can work for a day to day basis with my OP8 pro. Im not superactive but have a horse so it has to work when im out riding and the battery has to last atleast a day without having to worry. I think im gonna go for either 5 or 5 pro just cuz of the battery but still dont have a clue.

UNBOXING

👍

Kreiger Bailey

Portland, JAMAICA in the Building !!

ryan ramadhan

One of the main reason i want the 5 pro, is the chipping because of the slightly raised side glass on my watch 4, in this case is the same as watch 5. But, i don't know for some reasons, samsung here didn't allowed trade in for my watch 4. Shame on you samsung

Shane W

Garbage watch, garbage battery, minimal if any improvements, gtfo 🤮

Carlo Munoz

Now Samsung only has to make a Watch 5 Pro Classic and they've won the smartwatch wars

Mahmudul Hasan

I wouldn't suggest to buy Samsung watch.
I have brought samsung watch 4 last year. It leakd water in swimming time. BD service centre didnt agree to provide service as it brought from abroad. just disgusting. It's useless now.

BONOKI

Wat5h Pro for the longer battery life… thank you.

1993rufus

Had the Watch 4 44mm, upgraded to the 5 Pro and its absolutely AMAZING!!! Battery last 3 days for me and i sleep with it all 3 nights! It's gorgeous and i highly recommend it!!

Timothy Brown

Ok as long as the Classic is an ongoing model, I'll stick to it.

Steve L

The Pro is just too big for me.

MarMar CR

I got the galaxy 5 pro and loving it battery life is insane !

Darryl Forbes

I’m considering upgrading from the 4 classic to the 5 pro just for the extra battery life. If I wear the 4 classic all day with the LTE function on, I may not make it through the day , especially if I do some exercise tracking. Or use it as a stand alone phone. So if I can RELIABLY make it through the day before needing a charge, it’s probably worth it. I’d miss the rotating bezel though.

Brad Berryman

If it wasn’t for the steep discount I probably would have stuck with my watch 4. But $14.24 for the 5 pro….couldn’t pass that up. Full price I would probably pass it up
