Along with the release of the upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones, Google has been working on updating a number of its core Android applications. One of these updates has been released for the Google Clock application and it adds a couple of useful features that have been requested by the community for years.
The first change is the ability to set an alarm in the Google Clock application for an upcoming date. Setting up an alarm for a future date wasn’t something that was available in the application before the update to version 7.3. The previous versions of the app only allowed us to set an alarm for specific days of the week.
But now we can go in, tap the “Schedule Alarm” option when setting one up, and then view a calendar to pick and choose which day we want this alarm to begin on.
Another big change with this update includes the ability to snooze a recurring alarm on specific days in the future.
So let’s say you had an alarm for an event scheduled to go off every day of the week at a certain time. But then you knew that you wouldn’t need that alarm to go off due to a work holiday or perhaps a vacation.
After this update to version 7.3, we can go into the Google Clock application, select the alarm we want to adjust, and then tap the “Pause Alarm” option to make adjustments. Again, we’re given a calendar view of the days that this alarm is set for. We can either choose to snooze the alarm for multiple days by tapping the start date and then tapping the end date.
Or we can set the Google Clock app to pause the alarm for only a single day by selecting the day twice and then tapping the OK button.
These are features that have been included in other alarm applications on Android for years, but they had yet to become available in the Google Clock application itself. So while they are way overdue, it’s good to see the company finally adding them into the application that comes pre-installed on all Google Pixel smartphones and tablets.
