DISCLAIMERS ON FORMATS COVERED:
Notice I said POPULAR formats, meaning a format where there is a significant amount of people who compete in it for tournaments and so on and so forth.
For the record, I do not care what rules or formats people play their battles by nor am I saying these formats are the only formats that should be played. The way you play Pokemon is between you and your opponent. I just like examining popular tournament formats.

I was not at all expecting this from Aurorus! I figured, bad typing, bad rock special movepool, bad stats and left it at that… Hilariously this is one of those Pokémon that kind of looks at the notion of Power Creep and spits on it. Yes she's never been an OU monster, but most Ice Types are utterly glossed over. Sometimes ability and utility are more important than stats and typing.
I’m actually surprised that you’re doing more Gen 6 Pokémon.
I looooove this pokemon but that stupid rock typing ruined it in my opinion
12:34 Aegislash?
"How good was tyrantrum" please
Ill be glad to see Mienshao. Its a pretty cool gen 5 fighting type
Aurorus is definitely one of my top 5 favorite Pokemon designs because of its impressively accurate interpretation of Amargasaurus. A Sauropod that has bony protrusions that could support a sail, but could also just as easily be spikes. I love Pokemon that have this much detail put into them that you can directly tie them back to an underappreciated animal like this
A fun thing you can do with Aurorus in Doubles is have a fast pokemon use Round and then have Aurorus follow up with it's own Round with Refrigerate. Round gains priority when used after Round so this helps alleviate Aurorus' bad speed and gives it a powerful ice STAB move.
When will you do some fully evolved Johto or Sinnoh pokemon?
I would just buff the Ice type of resist the types it's super effective against plus make it super effective against fairies
Am I the only one who thinks that ice type should get more resistances? Like, grass and water.
Rock and Ice are such extremes…
Offensive they are some of the best types but on the defensive they are absolutely terrible Dx
I try to run a sweeper set in the lower tiers with varying success. In order to fix its big problems (speed and lack of good special rock STAB), I run it under trick room and have it run meteor beam + power herb. It isn’t a 100% fix and doesn’t solve its awful defensive typing, but I have won some games just based off of the surprise factor itself 😁
Please revisit Lapras! Seeing as it went from being pretty mediocre to being a staple of VGC in Gen 8, I think this warrants the first ever followup episode!
Great analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
Aurorus is such a statistical anomaly, its movepool and stats are pretty terrible plus its Rock/Ice is a terrible typing with terrible quad weaknesses. However; its 2 incredible abilities somehow kept it afloat for 2 and a half generations while it waited for its namesake of Aurora Veil to be finally gifted to it. On paper, this Pokemon looks terrible, but Smogon's high value of Stealth Rocks really works in its favor and turned it into a premier pillar of Hail Teams.
Can u please do amoonguss or landorus next video pls
Smogon bans are so god damn weird to me.
How GOOD was Klingklang actually?
I'm not sure if you saw but there was one player who brought it to worlds in 2015 made it to day 2 I believe.
I love it but it’s a slow ice/rock type. You know the truth.
Why does GameFreak seem to make many many literally useless Pokémon for no reason. Aurorus was lucky to have its stats going for it many Pokémon don’t even have that.
But seriously, why aren't there more Weavile-esque Pokemon? The Ice type needs more such designs: things that are fast and offensively threatening.
Another video where Kellen refuses to acknowledge ZU.
I say buff the defense stat to 80 and sp atk to 110 on top of adding special rock and coverage moves
Aurourus is the weakest fossil, and has one of the worst typings on the game
Spoiler:
Hisuan Avalugg has the same typing
Aurorus is a worse version of Lapras.
WELP SLUSH RUSH GOT BANNED
Double quad weakness, yikes
I am really hoping for a mienshao how good were they as they are my fav gen 5 and fighting type pokemon
The whole ''untiered'' system is just dumb. Whenever you have 2 or more pokemon that can do the same, but are equally good stuff like this happens. And at this point there should be 2 more lower tiers anyway.
huh. for having the worst type combo in the game, thought it'd be much worse than it was
While it’s type combination sucks, I remember having to do an inverse battle in a fan-game and my opponent led with Aurorus. I quickly discovered that Aurorus is an absolute beast in inverse battles. Probably one of the best Pokémon you can use.
The fact that it took a whole 7 years for the pokemon who is pretty much entirely based on the aurora borealis to get aurora veil is both hilarious and upsetting.
Aurorus was my fossil of choice in XY, and always had fun using it!
When he said Thick fat Piloswine I heard Big Fat Piloswine. i was like sheesh mans got a grudge.
Pd: pls make the venusaur remake video 🙏
Aurorus Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your youtube video!?
