DISCLAIMERS ON FORMATS COVERED:
Notice I said POPULAR formats, meaning a format where there is a significant amount of people who compete in it for tournaments and so on and so forth.
For the record, I do not care what rules or formats people play their battles by nor am I saying these formats are the only formats that should be played. The way you play Pokemon is between you and your opponent. I just like examining popular tournament formats.

I love how gen 7s pu got a taste of the ancient tauros wars from RBY
Me who just discovered your channel and currently watches through every video beginning with the oldest: why remake I just saw the original a week ago
Tauros then: I Will Kill Every Thing That Dare Apposes Me.
Tauros now: i wEeK t0 eDwEe dIInG (d0t)
I found it fitting for Tauros to be the king of Gen 1 OU, since that metagame is the Wild West of competitive Pokemon.
Tauros’s record:
A former champion that’s still hitting hard today. He used to rule the world. But as the game grew, he fell. But, he was NEVER done. He has seen a lot of tiers. Some good some bad. He was raging then, and some would say he’s still raging now.
I'm not crying, you're crying
I've been trying to come up with a new team in my semi Normal type run and I've never used a Tauros before. Could be fun.
Wait Payback used to be basically a reverse Pursuit? That’s awesome now I’m sad it isn’t anymore.
Why isn't there vgc in this video? Tauros is a classic vgc mon, even if it's not as used anymore.
“All but Snorlax hated BS Paralysis”
Me: yeah I guess so, snorlax doesnt care about speed
“All but Persian hated BS Paralysis”
Me: Something’s up with *Gen 1*, Persian has high speed and would not want to lose it!
I just love the way you say pathetic 😂😂
Pokemon that could swith I to tauros: eggy, big blue chub, lapras and vaginal oyster
Slowbro? Or is that not a switch in
Tauros did fall from grace after 1. That being said, even in some later generations if Tauros gets in and there's no Skarmory or strong priority move attackers and the other team is weakened enough it can (much like in Gen 1) plow through an opposing team.
Imagine mega tauros
400,000 of those views are mine
Bruh you missed the Tauros – Froslass amazing combo with anger point and frost breathe
Is it just me or do the animations in Pokémon stadium (a gen 1 game) feel significantly better than the lifeless gen 8 animations.
The infamous BAM ZZ
Tauros epic comeback?
I was litteraly watching this and i got a shiny tauros lol
Tauros is the bayonetta of rby and snorlax is the meta knight of gsc
ash can make a team of 6 perfect EV Tauros for sure
Its nice to see Tauros seemingly come back to higher tiers in gen 8. That's rare for old Pokémon like him.
9:49 Does any one else hear some sort of snap noise?
Gen 1 Tauros: I AM GOD
Every Gen Onward: I used to rule the world
tbh I'm kinda impressed by Tauros, with how many gen 1 pokemon that got minimal buffs have dropped to untiered Tauros has done pretty damn well for itself.
Really dumb question probably but what games is he using for the battle footage for gens 1-4?
Give Taurus a Mega Evolution
Still salty about Tauros not being able to learn Flame Charge but can learn Wild Charge and Flamethrower
I once played a random battle at Pokemon Showdown and my Lead Pokemon was Taurus and it took on the whole enemy Team alone. Was a big fan After that
Started and ended with Body Slam
Imagine something like a normalize Mega-Tauros
I feel “How Bucking Good Was Tauros Actually” would have been great here
Tauros:
Gen 1: OU (King of OU)
Gen 2: UU BL
Gen 3: OU (Not as dominant but had a real role)
Gen 4: NU (Best in NU, but had a role in UU)
Gen 5: NU (great in RU though)
Gen 6: NU (top 5 in the tier)
Gen 7: PU BL (too good in PU)
Gen 8: NU (excellent in NU, but good in RU though)
doesn,t tauros have anger point
God the Gen 8 section, every time Isle of Armor/Crown Tundra is mentioned I wanna smash something because we had a chance for an interesting Meta before they reversed Dexit to allow power creep back in.
Unfortunately he didn't get banned from RU again, he fell to NU
On the other hand, I prefer Choice Specs Stantler.
How far did Taurus fall ACTUALLY?
The answer: yes.
primes hyper beam core of porygon here we lay to rest the feared Taurus. May he for ever reign in the lower teirs
The direful santa topically guard because swordfish bizarrely nest upon a boring umbrella. amazing, plant carp
You know how Alolan Marowak is based on the plot of Gen 1, with the Marowak ghost? What if we got a regional form of Tauros with an ability that enabled its gen 1 bullshit. You could even handwave its weird gen 1 behavior as it being native to the Safari Zone, where Pokemon that aren't supposed to be native to Kanto reside.
Why were gen 1 mechanics so weird
tauros post gen1: i used to rule the world…
Tauros is like the Jumpmaster in X-Wing Miniatures. It was the god of its time, but fell hard off a cliff in the next edition and never quite recovered, despite a lot of effort to do so. But Tauros is doing a lot better because its game has multiple tiers, while X-Wing doesn't really. But it does have a much more dynamic meta since ships are regularly rebalanced; Pokemon is more "fire & forget", where the devs can't really do much to change things within a generation (it's up to the community to sort each into a tier where it belongs).
Gen 8 Tauros:
Hippety Hoppety, Close Combat Is Now My Property
Gen 1 Tauros: Wow, I wondered what's next for me
GameFreak: You peaked
Tauros: What?
GF: You peaked
Tauros: You're kidding. After all that!
GF: Yeah. Sorry
Tauros : But… But I get stronger though, right?
GF: Yeah but… No
Tauros had the biggest falling from grace from gen 1 to gen 2.
