I switched from my iPhone 13 to the iPhone SE 2022 as my main phone and today I’m going to share my experience. But first, why? Good question. These days more than ever, flagship phones are becoming more expensive and more affordable phones are getting better. If you’re currently using an iPhone X, 11 or 12 and are thinking of upgrading, do you still need to spend $800 on the iPhone 13 or is the new $429 iPhone SE the better value option? The biggest difference between the iPhone 13 and iPhone SE, aside from price, is the design. The iPhone 13 features Apple’s newer more sharp design, with thin bezels surrounding it’s stunning 6.1” OLED display. It also has Face ID and a dual camera system, one of the best camera systems on any phone, just behind the iPhone 13 Pro. I consider myself a power use and use my phone for many hours each day and the design of the iPhone 13 is well suited for these tasks. On the other hand, from a design perspective the iPhone SE is almost identical to the iPhone 8 from 2017. This recycled design helps keep cost down. The small light weight design is comfortable in hand and seamlessly fits in my pocket. But with a small design comes a small display and this is where the biggest comprise with the iPhone SE comes in. When it comes to content consumption, the iPhone SE display really is small and I found it hard to go back to after being used to the larger display on the iPhone 13. Will the display be too small for you? That depends on how you use your phone, the display really is a key component and I suggest you think about this carefully. The display on the iPhone 13 compared to the iPhone SE is much nicer to use, not only are text/images bigger, you can also see more at a time. The iPhone SE has the same A15 bionic chip as from the iPhone 13. This means the iPhone SE will perform just as well as the iPhone 13 not only today but also for the next 3,4 5+ years to come. No other phone at it’s price even comes close to this level of performance and longevity. This bring me to the cameras. I was impressed by how well the camera on the iPhone SE stacks up to even the iPhone 13. The iPhone SE may have just one lens but it is still one of the best smartphone cameras out there, especially at it’s price. At the end of the day, will I permanently switch from the iPhone 13 to the iPhone SE? No. For me the sacrifices in display and battery are just not worth it. However this be different for you. I have friends who, after years of always buying flagship phones, went for a more affordable alternative like the SE and never looked back – after all the iPhone SE is a phone that does the essentials and does them well. It all comes down to how you use your phone. If you use your phone for a smaller set of tasks, less for creating and consuming content and more for communication and some light productivity, the iPhone SE may be a solid option and opportunity to save some cash!

Could you switch to the iPhone SE? 🤔

Baby Star BTS

I personally can’t go without the ultra wide lense

anika

i really hope you reply to this but i need advice. i recently switched from iphone 8 to iphone 14, and my mood keeps changing. i wake up love the 14, over think about it, miss my 8, google iphone SE 2022, ask people if i should switch to the SE, but still wonder if the 14 is good for me. i’ve cried 3 times over this phone & idk what to do, i feel like it’s a rich person phone that gives me a bad attitude. and i don’t want to be like that. what should i do. i loved my 8, even if i said i didn’t, the screen size sucked yeah but now i realized how much it was perfect. i want a phone that takes decent pictures, messages, fits in the pocket, and that i don’t have to be on all the time. and this phone just makes me think that i need to be on it 24/7 or it’s a waste of money.

John Doe

I want this phone. Only thing that annoys me is when you said that battery life doesnt last a whole day. Does it at least charge fast? Like how much battery juice will you get in 30 minutes? And can you guys tell me your experiences on this battery life? Do you regret getting it for this reason?

Tech4 long

Im planning to buy the SE but for now im still not conviced to buy it because of the battery, nevermind the display, just the battery issue.

MrRocktuga

I honestly don’t understand how anyone can spend this much money on an old phone with a new processor…

fireice

The points of having the SE are touch ID and the smaller size. The smaller display is not a compromise. People hated the removal of touch ID on modern iphones and its gigantic size.

DJ Arthur Looby

That’s actually good u using it less. Then might actually have real conversations instead just looking at the phone while talking. Or being clued to it and socializing. That is really a plus not spending so much time on it.

Mauricio Salazar

Nice review. I have been thinking about upgrading from my SE to the IPhone 13. Thank you

Estycki

Face ID is so overrated

Kaitlyn.Elizbeth

I switched from an 11 to the SE and I can agree the screen is the biggest compromise. However, I did get it for $99 and it’s light years faster than my 11 so I’m happy with it.

Majickman

Still using my se 2 🤷🏾‍♂️

Woodythehobo

still rocking iphone 6s, touch id still works perfectly. but battery life is fairly diminished now, it can tank from 50-10% after watching a couple youtube videos on wifi.

TF_DragonSword

I want to buy this iPhone SE, right now I have a Galaxy Note 10 and I think I never use all of the features this phone gives me, thats why I think this iPhone is the best for me, I only use my phone for socials, casual photos and a few videos a day on Youtube. I watched some reviews from this phone and this in particular gaves me the decision to defenetly buy it.

Alan Pathomkan Phuphalee

spending less time using your phone? can only be a good thing ahah

Commando Master

iPhones are expensive, and the most expensive phone compared to all the other phone options on the market, so if u can't afford to buy this luxury item, then u shouldn't be buying the flagship model every year complaining it's too expensive, and wanting to downgrade to a cheaper iPhone.

Greg Nixon

I prefer SE’s home button. My wife has an 11, which doesn’t have one. I hate her phone for this reason.

Sakha Afriyan Wijaya Kusuma

Switching from 7 to SE 3 since its been 6 years. Thought bout to buy 13 at first but the hand grip and home button are what i need soo i choose the SE 3. Battery Perfomance is doing good, It can stay more than 12 hours. Soo, thats why i f$ck with the SE 3

superbn0va

Don’t be fooled. Iphone 13 is nowhere near worth the 8/900,- when compared to the 13 pro, the normal
Iphone 13 is way more similar to the iphone SE

Green Beans

why wont they put the iphone se in a iphone 8 plus body for the bigger battery and the landscape mode on the home screen for iphone se

jamin allen

Really solid video thanks. I love the iPhone 8 I used recently but found the new battery I put in it didn’t last close to long enough. So got a poco f3 which has great battery life. But I really want to go for the SE – I’d consider myself a power user listening to music and radio plays while working, emailing, using banking apps etc (not so much streaming) and using the maps. Would the SE be up to that? I don’t mind too much if it could last to 5pm on a charge but I had the SE 2020 and that seems to last about forty minutes!! Is this just a small improvement?
Many thanks 🖖

Stephanie Bowyer

My first iPhone was the iPhone 6s Plus I hade it for almost 6 years and just switched to the iPhone SE 2020 a few months ago and I love it I actually prefer the smaller size phone it fits in my hands better but I do miss the bigger screen since I watch a lot of videos for me the battery is good compared to my old iPhone and I like it still having the home button and bezels for what I use the camera for and not using it much it’s so good and compared to my old iPhone it’s so much better overall I would recommend the iPhone SE it has just enough for me and works for me on a day to day basis

MasterCheeseIsChaotic

Hey, nice review, I needed this because I saved up some money and wanted to get an IPhone Se 3 and I needed some specifications

MC Chamblin

Hek yeah, I would like to see comparison between se and iphone mini 13!

Marcel Forrel

I only care about the home button haha.

BobRenoir

Thanx

Aaron Austrie

I have a 2020 SE. Battery is terrible 🤦🏾‍♂

Orlando Turbo

I don't see the point in changing phones they still have the same iOS software.

Subhasish Saha

Me too.,.Battery is the saviour

GOTSM

iPhone SE is the true Steve jobs phone because it's about quality over quantity which boils down to efficiency, productivity and overall profit. What iPhone SE lacks it more than makes up for in the longest battery life but it doesn't sacrifice the premium apple quality.

Upgrade Store

I only use my iPhone 8 for texting, taking a few photos and make phone calls occasionally. It's more than what I need.

Boss Bondan

little bit out off topic? can smartphone have dimension like iphone se 2016/ iphone 5s have 2000mah battery?what do you think..maybe just little bit thicker

American Paisa Returns

Put the SE in Dark Mode.
Reduce Motion.
Reduce Transparency
Reduce White Point
And that battery will last you for 2 days.

American Paisa Returns

Does it have 5G? Yeah
Does it have an updated chip? Yeah
Can I stream movies in HD? Yeah
Does it record in 4K? Yeah
Then that’s all i need.

And like I tell my friends with the Pro models. Do you have the right data plan to go along with the phone? 😳 Oh your speeds are throttled?
Wait you’re data capped?
And you’re carrier streams your videos at SD?
🤣

Prem Garu

I have never watched a more practical point by point comparison of any two phones as this. Honestly if you were my teacher in grade school I probably would have scored an 'A' in all my subjects. Great video. Subscribed.

Nube Peluda

Bought the 2022 SE, love the design, it never lags, no notch, the battery (for me) lasts all day, photos are good enough for me and touch ID is my fave unlocking system… I think many people hate on this phone for not being “the best” but it works so well and I could get 256gb much cheaper than a 128 gb 13 or 12 model 🙂

sheerene ibrahim

The design of the iphone 13 is much better. The SE looks outdated with its design and its screen is small and not as clear as the iphone 13.

Hari Haran

I own iPhone SE 2022. It’s been good and fine till date. Thanks for the comparison video.

Aldo Rodriguez

iPhone SE vs iPhone 13 mini🎉

galactic turd

i hate giant screened phones. the iphone SE is the perfect size to put in my pocket.

Sérgio Freitas

Switched from 7 to 13 mini bcs no more updates on the 7.. and it feels weird in my hand, maybe bcs my girlfriend don’t allow without case but I really loved the 7 and the jet black color..
I’m thinking switch from 13 mini to SE but… I feel I can regret it

Thomas Taylor

If your buying a phone you know what the size is so it’s not a compromise when you know what your buying

James Van Cleef

I bought the iPhone SE 2nd gen to upgrade my iPod Touch since Apple no longer supports the Touch (but still gets software updates). I can even sell my iPod Touch for just as much $ as the SE these days! It’s a no brained!!

Mr.Avid Outdoorsman

Did yall see the blue in the camera ? Is that phone real iPhone?

Christopher Marshall

I have a 13pro however my son wants a new phone, at this time he has an Xr so I wanted to upgrade him…but I'm not buying an iPhone 13 for a 14yr-old kid…so he should be happy with this SE 3rd gen…thanks for the video

Jandre Stols

I use the se and it is great!
