Friday, Sept. 1 – First FREE Friday
5 post meridiem – 8 p.m. The museum and Drum Point Lighthouse are open and rid to the public with docents in every gallery. Enjoy FREE 30-minute cruises on the Tennison. Entertainment will be provided by the Navy Band Sea Chanters at 6 post meridiem on the outdoor PNC Waterside Pavilion Stage. Bring a field day and a lawn chair. The Museum Store will be open.

Thursday, Sept. 14 – At the Water’s Edge Lecture Series
7 post meridiem – 8 post meridiem Join us in the Harms Gallery for “ african american leisure Destinations around Washington, D.C. ” presented by Patsy Mose Fletcher, the first in a series of lectures about diversion on Calvert County ’ s Waterways 1890 through the 1970 ’ sulfur. FREE to the populace .
Friday, Sept. 15 – Creole Gumbo Jazz Band
7 post meridiem – 9:30 p.m. The Maritime Performance Series presents Creole Gumbo Jazz Band in the Harms Gallery. The group was founded in 2009 by Jim Ritter, a trumpeter with a long history of playing early New Orleans jazz. other members of the set include Gary Gregg, who uses an Albert-system clarinet, Tom Holtz on bass horn, and Rick Rowe on banjo. Their music is alternately gentle and brash, imaginative, and intuitive with musicians playing off of one another. Each concert is instinct with tidbits of sleep together history about how this music developed in New Orleans between 1900 and 1929. Saturday, Sept. 16 – Calvert Marine Museum Fossil Club Meeting and Public Lecture
1 post meridiem – 2:30 post meridiem Fossil Club Meetings are open to the public and held in the museum ’ s 3rd floor Lounge. FREE public call on the carpet to follow at 2:30 post meridiem in the Harms Gallery .
2:30 p.m. Join members of the Calvert Marine Museum’s Fossil Club for a FREE lecture in the Harms Gallery. Fossil enthusiast Tim Foard will speak on what he has learned from examining and studying rigidify wood and how this information tells us more about the prehistoric worldly concern .
Saturday, Sept. 16 – Aww…Shucks Oyster Social
4 – 7 post meridiem Join us for the museum ’ s annual fundraiser for the Dee of St. Mary ’ sulfur. Indulge in the fat and saltiest oysters on the half plate from 4 – 7 post meridiem under the beacon. Enjoy heavy hors d ’ oeuvres, beer and wine, and live music. Tickets are $ 75 each and available on-line at www.bit.ly//SupportTheDee. Proceeds from this year ’ randomness event will support a modern endowment for the Dee.

Saturday, Sept. 16 and Sunday, Sept. 17 – 11th Annual Maryland Lighthouse Challenge
8 ante meridiem – 6 post meridiem Visit ten lighthouses in a weekend and see two ( Drum Point Lighthouse and Cove Point Lighthouse ) of these jewels in Calvert County ! Challengers receive a complimentary memento at each localization. Shuttle buses will run from the Calvert Marine Museum beginning at 8 ante meridiem with the death one depart at 5:30 post meridiem On Saturday, the Drum Point Lighthouse will close at 4 post meridiem ; participants will still be able to see the beacon outside and receive their stamp .
Tuesday, Sept. 19 – Rachel Eddy in Concert
7 post meridiem – 9 p.m. The Road Scholar Summer Music Series presents Rachel Eddy in the Harms Gallery. Eddy was born and raised in rural West Virginia. She grew up listening to local fiddlers, her father among them, going to old-time festivals, and attending feather dances. Rachel now performs and teaches full-time on violin, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and sea bass. She spent time acting and education in Stockholm and recently performed at CMM with the Ken and Brad Kolodner Trio. Tickets are $ 10 each and available at the doorway ( cash or check ). Doors open at 6 post meridiem with beer and wine for sale .
Thursday, Sept. 21 – Gills Club
5:30 – 7 post meridiem FREE program for girls interest in learning more about sharks. Gills Club is a STEM-focused broadcast from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy with activities designed for girls ages 7 – 12. Saturday, Sept. 23 – Toy Boat Building
2 post meridiem – 4 post meridiem Make a toy boat in the Maritime History Hall with sessions starting on the half hour. $ 2 contribution per boat requested. Museum entrance fee required .
Thursday, Sept. 28 – Little Minnows
10 ante meridiem – 11 ante meridiem A program for children historic period 3 – 5 and their caregivers. The composition is Migration ! Fee is $ 5, members are FREE .
Friday, Sept. 29 – Pirate Day
10 ante meridiem – 4 p.m. Throw on your best plagiarist kit and head to the museum to hear commandeer stories, sing sea chanteys, make a plagiarist hat, get a commandeer tattoo, learn to tie knots and walk the plank on our pirate ship. Museum entrance fee applies.

Saturday, Sept. 30 – Dee of St. Mary ’ s Public Sail
2:30 post meridiem – 4:30 post meridiem Sail aboard the Dee for the last public sail of the season and experience the Patuxent River like never before ! The boat leaves from the museum dock. Fee is $ 25 for ages 13 and improving, $ 15 for children 5 – 12. No children under 5 please. Preregistration required, call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 to register .
