Pretty standard actually. Sketchy insurance will write a policy without any checks, decent will do a drive by or drone, best companies actually come into the house and inspect it. A few rails is pretty minor but they are correct you/them can be sued in liability if somebody falls down those stairs. Many companies are now refusing to write policy if roof is less than 15 years old!
Hate to tell you, but I think insurance companies can come on your property to evaluate your home without prior notification. However they can't come into your house without prior approval epeciallyif you have a rental. To me an insurance company that will evaluate it is better than than one that doesn't. Lawsuits aren't fun. Rather have my insurance tell me what I need to correct than have one that does look at the house and I find out I'm not covered when little Tyrone gets hurt on my rental property.
Liberals are doing everything day can to put small businesses out of the business, exactly what they are doing now to owner operators, shame on those people voting these liberals into the office😱😡👎
Wow ! Sorry they did you like that that’s wrong
They're going to raise your rate no matter what. My first year I had to go with Progressive but we raised our rate my upgrading to the higher level services. But at the end of the first year they increased the rate by maybe $800 a month for the same exact policy saying that the reasons were that all the drivers don't have their driver's license in the same state as the business is located. That's complete bullshit and I got lucky and found another company with a just year old authority to ensure the trucking company at a lower rate than their original rate….
Good story, I would’ve gone with progressive because they’re the most widely known in trucking. Now I will not be using them.
Mega-Carriers lobbying for control of the industry.
A little massaging here….a little pay-off there.
I’ve used ooida sense day one and have never had a problem. I’ve heard people say they suck, but they’ve been there for me whenever I’ve needed them even when I was involved with a very bad accident.
OOIDA I heard is good
Progressive commercial has a MONOPOLY for new authorities!!! If you don’t have 2 years with a CDL, you’ll pay for it. I would try getting another quote with an insurance agent. Progressive is HIGH, they can drop you for a variety of reasons. Location, driving records, equipment, too you and yea even too old!!! Shop around. After 3 years it drops by $10K per truck and trailer. So like $12k to $15k per truck and trailer. I would suggest you don’t bundle all you businesses together.
Your right 100% that's what happened on me to
whats your new house address?
In the first 2 years you pretty much have NO choice but to use progressive.
In addition, the insurance company doesn't have to do a home inspection as it is your responsibility as the owner to make sure the property is up to code. And you learn that the hard way when someone falls off those stairs or trampoline, you get sued, they deny the claim, and you are held personally liable for thousands of dollars
You are wrong. You are required to have railings on most decks/stairs if there are higher than one step not only with almost all insurance but probably with your town registrations, too. It is called a home inspection and insurance doesn't trespass as they have an interest in the property. Also, most insurance companies do not insure trampolines. Please do your homework first before you post wrong information…
I would still proceed with the hand rails at your home. Stairs can be dangerous without them.
Some drivers use that OOIDA insurance but if you look at their rating it’s bad. So bad that some brokers won’t use drivers with it. In my opinion capital causality is probably the best
High insurance for owner operators, crazy regulations and high diesel prices is all part of a bigger plan, the bottom line is they do not want people having their own business. I was looking at buying my own truck but when I looked into it I realized it was not worth it.
This is insane.
Great West is the top shelf for truck insurance. It is pretty expensive your first year, but just the tow coverage they have makes it worthwhile.
I swear I’m listening to myself at the end of 2018.
When I bought my first house
The insurance company did the same exact thing.
Told me I needed to add hand rails, fix cracked concrete (not structural, just decorative) and add a bunch of useless shit like gutter extenders and whatnot: told me I had 30 days.
I was 23 years old, just dumped every dime I had into the purchase. Ended up with Swyfft for home insurance.
I feel your pain!
Progressive definitely screwed me this year. I had one written warning not a ticket and it raised my rate from 15gs to 22gs.
Hey Rayan,
My boss selling a box truck, freightliner. It pretty neat. The only issue it has that it was flooded just a bit so when you start it ,most of the lights comes on(on dash). Truck located in Philadelphia. Thanks
Went through OOIDA, 3 years ago brst decision we've made for r trucking company.
They quoted my 15grand a year, and my DOT# is 12 years old. No accidents since I've been driving 2001.
Yea there crap!
No wonder they advertise all the time like T Mobil. They must be terrible.
Started with progressive last year(1100 a month). No tickets, two passed DOT inspections and now 1650 a month after renewal. Shop around drivers….
Yea, They are evil.
They remind me of TQL.
I use progressive so far so good.
Have you tried O.O.I.D.A.? Pay the $45.00 a year. Call and ask for the Insurance Dept. My coverage was thru Loydds of London. But then I had an excellent record. Call and see what it is.
They are the worst insurance company out there bottom line as just a driver I had a not at fault accident they told my boss the owner of the trucking company that he had to fire me or pay 15 thousand dollars a month to keep me I was an oversize heavy long haul driver for him for five years and making 70,000 a year .I was 60 years old at the time and had a clean driving record for 45 years .do to other things going on in my life I decided to retire .
Hella ironically, I got ads for Progressive during this video 😅😂
According to another well-known known YouTube trucker, Progressive is the only company that will take a new authority driver, and, for the first two years it was $18,000 per year. After that it cut in half to about $9000 in his 3rd year, and other companies were cheaper than Progressive. Thanks. 😅
I’ve been with progressive and only progressive since day one trucking coming up on 30 years and never had an issue or a claim which probably helps. Your mileage may vary. I bet there’s horror stories about every insurance company
I had Progressive Commercial and I started out paying 1900 a month for 2 trucks fresh out of the gate. My 2nd yr. They raised my insurance up to 3600 so I dropped them now I pay 2200 with a different company
Thanks for sharing
I’ve got a buddy that does auto body work, and he says Progressive is the cheapest insurance when it comes to fixing stuff. They’re ok with junkyard parts and zip ties.
Did you try Gallagher insurance. They may give you a good deal. Tell them that you were an bco with Landstar.
