The mechanic who bought this BMW M5 Competiton before me decided not to fix it after finding structural damage to the strut tower. I then bought it from him and attempted to fix it myself. In the previous video i replaced the strut tower despite BMW not being able to give us any help or advise on how to do it. But now that its replace theres even more damage to repair & there’s one issue which arrises with the 2019 M5 which wasn’t there when i bought it.

Watching this video even though I am not a mechanic I feel like I understand everything! Mat Mat Mat 🔥

Yeahmate

top video mate as always. I'm worried about that serpentine belt, logic says the back of the belt should be running on the water pump pulley, usually they can go on a few different ways in terms of length, however there is only one correct way. Id be looking into finding a diagram for that. Maybe the master cylinder is bypassing with the brake issue?? who knows. best of luck man looking forward to the next video

The throttle body no longer controls the throttle in BMW and many other cars. Read the BMW training manual for details. The variable inlet valves control the amount the valve open and consequently the throttle. This allows better throttle response.

I don't have M5, but X5 M50i. Yes you have to press the brake to engage a fear, and also hold the button on the gear lever. My older car would slip out of gear if driver door open. I really think you would have been done by now if you had ista. I use it on app my cars and it guide you through all the repairs step by step with photos and diagrams. So before trying anything else get ista on a laptop with a $15 enet cable. The car has ethernet already.

Bro. You’re an inspiration to guys with little or no talent. If you can do it, then anyone can. Dedication.

@jamiesGarage1 can you assist in how to get the bmw into gear

Replacing the waterpump with a new one (expensive) but not replaced the thermostat (cheap)…why didn't you?

Steven wagner

The car won't go in to gear Usually with the hood open.

My friend got into the same issue after a air bag deploy even though the brakes seems fine it would push all the way down in his f90 m5 base model maybe make a way that car thinks the airbags are deployed or something idk I’m kinda still learning this stuff

hello Mat. I had the same problem once before. Not on a car like this… But on a Vauxhal from 1986. I found a bleed valve on the top of the breakpump. When i bled this valve i could continue with the regular bleeding and all was sorted out. After i found this valve i never had the problem again. Now i always look for the bleed valve near the pump 🙂

Just a tip. When connecting the battery, always put on the positive first, and then the ground

Ramon Swilem

@matarmstrong There’s two issues: a modern BMW needs to have a closed driver door and/or seatbelt connected in order for it to get in gear. Otherwise it will just stay in park. Also, stupid question, but are you sure your pedal is OK? Also, keep in mind that whenever you’re rolling, you can’t get it into P without pressing the brake. 😅 that’d be a shame. Loving the series, keep up the good!

Possible brake master cylinder seal blown off in the crash so fluid is just passing by the cylinder instead of compressing it

sbkingz79

Mat, Make sure that bonnet latch is locked!

Marek Słodyczka

Try to lock seatbelt on driver’s seat. It will help you “cheat car”with info about open bonnet, doors and give you opportunity to put gearbox on drive position and ride out from workshop.

I absolutely love this channel 😊😉🫡😎😘

“It’s just over engineered”
Lol. Newer generation BMW’s just aren’t meant to be taken apart

John French

Note to BMW this engine looks like your worst nightmare. I know ICE are now so complicated because of emissions etc. But the serviceability of this ICE looks horrendous.

Omar

Assemble the whole car first bmw are known for sensors malfunctions if its not detecting headlights it might not work, airbags , doors open or closed it might be all connected or ask bmw they will help you or you missed some connection to the gear box
