I can get my deck off to clean okay, but reinstalling it is a bear. I put the lift cables in place with clip. However, this makes it difficult to secure the front end. Think I will get the front end in place with spring bar and work from there.

On my 54" conquest, will not work like that. You have to raise the front wheels to pull the deck out from the side with the handle still attached. A short video on replacing the rear steering ball joint would be nice.
All that pin secures is the lift cable. When the mower is in the down, or mowing position the rear rollers are on the ground. In the up, or transport position the cable is holding the rollers off the ground. The front of the mower is secured to the front axle with a heavy rod that is locked into a hook shaped bracket. It's definitely not going anywhere.
We've never had any mower decks that have come loose from the tractor.

wow, I'd feel more secure about the mower deck if it was secured by more than a pin! Say at least a couple of bolts.
