The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G can take respectable photos and even better videos, but can the Google Camera app beat the stock Samsung camera app on the A53 5G? Let’s compare in this Samsung Galaxy A53 5G Camera test! That’s right, it’s GCam VS Stock Camera on the A53!

The Samsung A53 has a 64 megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) that can capture good images in almost every situation–except with night mode on the selfie camera. Usually now say that’s where GCam comes in and really improves the quality of the Samsung A53 camera hardware, but that’s not the case for the A53 5G. Due to the new Exynos 1280 processor that the Galaxy A53 is running, the only GCam port I could reliably use was the very limited GCam Go. GCam Go does provide brighter and more saturated shots than the stock Samsung Camera app, but they are generally too bright and lack detail. I share the settings I used for both apps, as well as the specific Samsung A53 GCam port that I tested with (link below). Remember that this was a port that worked at the time of recording, by the time you watch this video–there may be other Galaxy A53 5G GCam ports that can do a better job with more supported features (as GCam developers are able to test with Samsung phones running this Exynos 1280 processor), so certainly check out some other sites like and for more options.

Not working
good afternoon, I just tried the two applications on my Samsung Galaxy A53, the first one does not work (I give it all the permissions) and it closes after a few seconds and the second app only works the video part, the other functions are either frozen or black 😭
I have samsung galaxy A53 5g, but my camera is worst, even in low light and good light, camera quality is too bad, I don’t know what is fhe problem, i have changed lot of settings in the camera settings but not improved, if you can help me , it will be great for me.

I wish I saw this video before I downloaded and tried a bunch of gcam versions on my A53. I still prefer my old Pixel 3xl, so will be returning the A53. I really wish the camera was better.

Stock camera looks much better. Especially when looking at sharpness. You cannot 'create' sharpness in an unsharp photo, you can however do color balancing, but this won't make a picture any sharper.
Thank you for your video! GCam Go seems to have much lower performance than the regular one as some of the photos look worse than regular GCam on my old phone. It would be great to see a comparison between the regular GCam and the stock camera app when it is available.
Nice! The Exynos processor is one of the reasons I'm avoiding this phone, telephoto lens is the second one. How is the battery life (especially when using the camera!)?
