If I never had a foldable phone and currently have the iPhone 13 pro max should I get this?

Jarrech

In my humble opinion, not worth upgrading if you have a Z Fold 3. Hopefully the Fold 5 blows the Z Fold 3 out the water, I've had my Z Fold 3 for almost a year and still love everything about it. While it could definitely be better, can't imagine going back to a conventional phone.

Nefff

Why all youtubers hate the beige color? It’s the best out of the three easily.

Just confirmed, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Foldable Screen uses 3rd Generation ECO² OLED PLUS and UPC Plus (Under Display Camera+)

What are the advantages of ECO² OLED PLUS?

Quoted from Samsung Display – Eco² OLED Plus is a non-polarizing low-power technology that is further enhanced than Eco Square OLED (Eco² OLED TM ), which was first implemented on the 'Galaxy Z Fold 3' last year. Compared with general OLED, the panel power consumption is reduced by 37% and the light transmittance is 1.6 times improved.

UPC+/Under Display Camera+:

UPC Plus is a full-screen technology by eliminating the camera hole on the screen, and the perceived resolution is increased by 1.4 times compared to the previous 'Galaxy Z Fold 3'.

What's the ECO² OLED? New OLEDs?

Yep, Reporting from Gizmochina (17/8), Eco2 OLED is one of the first screens to replace the polarizer. So, the polarizing plate, which is typically used in OLED panels, lowers the brightness by up to 50% as it tries to increase visibility by blocking light from outside the panel.

“The Eco2 OLED panel not only optimizes pixel density, but with the added benefit of removing the polarizer, more light is exposed to the camera below the display, thereby increasing transmission in the camera module.

List of generations of ECO OLEDs and which brands use them?

ECO OLED Gen 1:
– Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2
– Oppo Find N
– Vivo X Fold

ECO OLED Gen 2:
– Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
– Xiaomi Mix Fold 2

ECO OLED Plus Gen 3:
– Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

I love the beige/gold, it’s the only classy colour!!

Cars & Tech

I love it but I also wish it came in more color options too.

James Baker

Whoa! Disappointed by the color options? That beige and grey green are some of the best Sammy has come out with! Though, I would love a matte purple like the iPhone Pro 14 is supposed to rock.

Peter Koh

Not even close to evolutionary.

Go Phish

I preordered mines, coming from a s21 ultra I'm excited, I'll skip fold 5 for fold 6 same as I did with s series, I always get the refined phone vs the new iteration for example 7 over 6, 9 over 8 etc

bmanfitz

I've held off on a foldable until this generation, I feel like they're more refined and not such a beta project lol

Wanda Ediviani

Haha, the burgundy one is pretty but its only offered during the pre-order on Samsung's website (and the variant only up to 512 GB memory). I hope Samsung consider more color options for the fold series as many people now are getting more interest on this amazing multitasking device 😃

Awful huge hinge gap no thanks not cool

Nothing much has changed. Samsung should fired their Design and Creative Department for stunningly poor decision making. Its mediocre at best.

Buddy j gollan

Definitely considering this phone as its better sure I would love to see it catch up to the galaxy s22 ultra in terms of cameras but still the z fold 4 has a decent camera as my current s10 is great but its a does 10x zoom I want the z fold 4 as it has great multitasking and it's definitely like a computer

Mk

xiaomi mi fold 2 coming out

Tay Jones

Looks the same as the Zf3, so if you have the Zf3, you may want to hold on to it longer. Maybe until Zf5 or Zf6. I don't have any, so I'm waiting to get a big discount on Zf3 when the Zf6 comes out.

Tim Longson

Fairly impressive, BUT a vital feature: does it support a total charging bypass mode whilst plugged in (like the Asus gaming phone, Lenovo Duel phone, etc.)? So if you wanted to use the phone for prolonged periods whilst plugged in, like if you were using it to shoot long videos or playing games or something, can you set it to completely cut the battery out of the loop? Or is it like the Samsung phones where the battery is constantly charging and discharging if you use it whilst plugged in, so it chews through the batteries charge-discharge life cycles on a phone where you can't replace the battery, so people who heavily use the phone whilst plugged in have to replace the phone much sooner?

Is z fold 4 a dual nano sim tray?

The Stealth

Still have my Fold 3 and its as new and fresh like its been unboxed, the Fold 4 is not game changing enough for me to upgrade. Make the Fold 5 half the thickness, incorporate a thin stylus (like on the Notes) with no screen crease and zero camera bump, then I may then decide to change.

Kevin Willisch

will the spen now work on the outer display??

GonzalezJio

"The company also says this is more durable than the 4…" What?? What device are you talking about

Leonard Xin

Without an S Pen and having headphone jacks and FM radio. No matter how, it would not ever make sense!

Corky McButterpants

Say "Galaxy Z fold 4" again. Say "Galaxy Z fold 4" again, I dare you… I double dare you mother funsta!

Justin

Gonna wait for the Five.

Cijay by steps

What a lot of work with the unpacking Cherlynn, this Fold is the top of the range, the best of the best, for me the most remarkable thing is that Samsung has worked on its resistance, without touching what works, they are improving what already worked last year but adding positive steps.
