We learn about the different fundraising stages for startups based on my real life experience working with venture capital businesses at various stages. Obviously there will always be exceptions to any of my examples but this can give you some context for when you hear that a business raised a seed round or a Series B etc.
After you watch this video you’ll have a better sense of startup funding stages and who the typical investors are (and what they expect) in early-stage first late-stage startups.
Sections:
0:22 intro – bootstrapped vs. outside funding
1:22 guidelines & ranges for fundraising stages (no one size fits all)
2:09 initial capital before any product
3:26 early stage startup (pre seed & seed) investors & convertibles vs. equity
7:40 series A investors, capital raised, rough valuations, investment vehicle
8:56 series B onwards – late stage startup investors & expectations
10:51 exits – IPOs, acquisitions
13:55 understanding pre vs. post money valuations – practice example
By the end of this video, you’ll have a much better understanding of the fundraising stages of startups – I guarantee it.
