The same crippling issue that’s dogged the PS5 and Series X from day one. #steamdeck

The obvious problem that no one's genuinely talking about is that the Deck relies exclusively on digital downloads meaning there's no hope of it future proofing the titles it can currently play. Digital downloads for everything is just one step closer to subscription services. What happens when Valve want to switch to being a service?
The Switch on the other hand still has physical cartridges.
Casuals: The Valve is a rip off of the Switch
Intellectuals: Well, Sega made the Switch in the 90s called the Sega Nomad and then there's the TurboExpress from NEC
We can just update the internal drive. It's not a proprietary system. It's not Nintendo and that's why they sold out.
If I hear one more person say it's like the switch… XD
There were many handheld game consoles before the switch.
I for one loved the Game Gear back in the day. All the other kids had monochrom game boys and when I pulled that beast out with full color, most of the class swarmed by desk. Get Rekt Mario.
lol, what a clickbait title and absolute garbage spoken by a right pair of halfwits.
Pretty sure people was talking about the storage ever since Steam gave out the specs.
Whatever makes these two morons believe they are the first to discuss it.
Joke of a channel
Maybe if devs were better at packaging their games. Look at sites like fitgirlrepack where sure it is a sect of people pirating games, but you would be surprised the amount of people who own a licenses for the games she has packaged and use it just because of install size
buying the 64gb, just for emulation
Lol, you should remove old videos because this horse has been beaten to death 🙂 All games they tested were running from SD; and you can add external SSD if you want. On top of that, nobody will be playing their COD on the go, except few people, so the problem is not even a problem to be honest
If I could use what I currently have which is an external hard drive for backups I'd be set
Is there a way to buy it and max out the ssd inside to expand it? To a terabyte?
it's not coming with exclusive 🙁
So… the thing about this is that its catering to the console gamer who has Steam but wants to be able to play it somewhere that isn't their desktop PC in their office. For me, it gives me the ability to move my Steam library to the living room. My Steam library, as a console gamer, is more or less indy stuff that doesn't make it to PS5 or Xbox or is locked to previous gaming generations. Like with this I can replay Soul Reaver 2 in my living room in HD. I'm jazzed for this.
Obvously if you want to hardcore play current titles, you gotta go for the more expensive models, that's just the way it is.
If you can play modern PC games on mechanical drives, then surely you can play them from SD cards.
trolls 🙄
Are quid and pound the same thing as dollar and buck? Two words for the same thing?
Just an FYI for the creators of this video .. all the games that IGN previewed on the steam deck were all played directly off an SD card and not loaded onto the internal steam deck storage and they all played perfectly fine. Do research better
Ya baited me boys, ya baited.
I don't think this is over looked if you own ps4 or xbox one. You install maybe 5 games and it's tapped out. I am using average because there is smaller games. It's just required to have external storage on all platforms.
Stop
It maybe difficult for many to believe, but there are heaps of gamers who don’t actually care for Nintendo games,
but would still like to play their other games in ahandheld mobile form factor for easy gaming on the go.
Gaming size is NOT the problem.
There are other mediums that also get amassed, are large and growing size.
It’s consumer storage technology that needs to advance – higher capacities and handling – NO, streaming is not the solution.
More whatculture click bait…
The real problem no-one seems to be talking about… how less than 15 per cent of all games on Steam officially support Linux and SteamOS. Will be more interesting if someone can hack the steam deck to run windows so you can actually play your entire steam library.
Too expensive great if you have money to throw around even with its power people still dont dig deep enough to see the lower requirement games that are pc and switch only they do exist and they're good wait for switch pro 4 to 600 dollars when it drops sound familiar
Buy 2 one for call of duty one for the other games
Amazon has the fastest 1tb micro sd for 200$. I see no problem buying it if im willing to also spend 700 on the high end steam deck.
Steam deck mainly competes against gaming laptops not any consoles
This is hilarious… You can get a 512gb micro sd for as low as $36 nowadays. You can easily stock up on just 2 of those and you already have the same storage space as your average PC and just swap between the 2 based on the games you want to play. No wonder this video has so many dislikes. Hardly a problem
i hope they make the top line one OLED
