Not accusing the 49ers of this but sometimes teams ask for too much in return on purpose knowing nobody is gonna give up what they want. Similiar to the Brooklyn Nets situation I already knew KD & Kyrie weren’t going anywhere. Similiar situation here I’m not sure if he took a pay cut or the contract was literally reconstructed to favor them or both sides but it’s clearly a “JUST INCASE Trey Lance suck” insurance policy they can put Jimmy G in. If Lance performs well and a playoff contending team desperate for a QB calls maybe due to injury etc. then it benefits both parties

No it's not, Patrick doesn't have a Jimmy G level backup & neither does Rodgers or Brady or Burrow or Jackson or even Mac Jones or Dax. Btw, not counting Brady or Baker (one's a 7x SB champ & the other was waiting to get picked up) no other QB besides Lance has taken days off in the middle of preseason including Baker who had surgery to repair is shoulder so Lance isn't ready & it's Kyle's fault- deal with it.

Stephen A is totally wrong on this one. 49ers have been trying to get rid of him since the season ended. Shanahan even said in a post practice interview Jimmy is on the depth chart cause he has to be. They had him away from the team and not practicing. The 49ers also had until next week to do something before they had to cut him and take that cap hit. You can't tell me the Seahawks wouldn't have tried to grab him for free. Either way it's a bad look on the 49ers and Lance has to work out for them not to look like idiots trading three 1st rounds away
