Swipe Down Gesture in YouTube App to Exit Full Screen Videos

Join the Daily Android News Discussions

Google recently began rolling out a new application update to YouTube. Once downloaded and installed, you will be given access to a new gesture to exit full-screen videos.

#Android #YouTube #iOS

Before, you would have to tap on the screen to bring up the on-screen buttons. Then, you would have to tap the button on the screen to exit full screen videos.

This is okay, but it’s not as quick or as easy as a simple swipe gesture. As long as you’re on the latest version of the YouTube application (v), then you can just use the swipe gesture before looking for something else to watch.

This doesn't work on Android tablets though. I used a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and everything in this tab works perfect except for this irritating thing because I'm so used to it on my phone

So while 2 years late and this is not the same anymore, how the hell do you undo what Google did! THis swipe up for fullscreen and landscape is gone 🙁

But like Google, they do nothing ever that makes sense. I hope there is a setting I'm missing, help me @explaining android !

mate gamer

u can swipe up to go back in

Interestingly, on Samsung Tab S6 Lite, swipe up to full screen works but swipe down to exit doesn't.

I've noticed on my Samsung tablets the swipe up gesture does not do anything. Yet on my note 9, it works properly🤔

Infact swipe gesture to go to fullscreen from potrait mode is not working. Swiping up is taking to full screen but its returning back to portrait instantly.. on samsung one ui 3.1. You have any idea how to fix that?

HOW TO REMOVE THIS SHIT? IT'S SO CANCER I JUST STRAIGHT UP HATE IT. this is not making it easier, you lose like 0.1 sec if you tap and tap unexpand to exit, it makes it 100 times worse, i just want to clean my display it has a dot or some dust on it and it's annoying asf but with this shit ass "feature" it keeps exiting full screen, it's so aids pls tell me there's an option to remove this cancer.

I don't like to swipe down to exit full screen because if there is a chance that I accidentally swiped down, I will have to press the full screen button again…

Swiping down to exit full screen on my Lenovo Tab Pro is not working.

conork

Has this been removed? Because I can't do it anymore and if there's a way to get it back could you tell me?

Same swipe up on portrait will also works to have full screen mode.

For me it puts the video in the miniplayer at the bottom and opens the search, like when you'd press a "back" button. However when I resume the video, instead of black bars (my phone isn't 16:9) it zooms to fit and disables the zoom gesture until I rotate to portrait mode or close the video.

How can I disable or remove the swipe to exit full screen.
It causes nothing but problems as your watching your video.

If i accidentally touch a side I'm pushed out of fullscreen which means I'm still having to mess around just as much if not more, so the point of the feature being made essentially does nothing except to piss me off almost every time I watch a vid.

K

I absolutely hate this feature.
I understand that this feature is supposed to save you from taping multiple buttons therefore making it faster.
My experience with the swipe to exit fullscreen is anything but fast.

When I'm watching a video the slightest touch on the edge of the screen reduces my video when I don't need or want it to.

Thia also means that if I want to change brightness or whatever from the drop down tool bar it does it again.

Though I had to tap more buttons the other way it gave me more control.
The fact that I have to keep enlarging the screen not only really pisses me off, but also takes just as much if not more time.

How can I disable or permanently delete the feature?
Can I simply reinstall the app to the previous update?

If someone knows how to get rid of please message me how.

Thanks

FilmPlusFr

Would you happen to know how to remove this feature. I find it really inconvenient.

And I thought my phone was error. Didn't even noticed they upgraded it. Thank you for educating me. 🙂
