The Evolution of Container Shipping – A Visit to the Maritime Museum of Denmark

We move 12 million containers every year and deliver to every corner of the globe – but what is the story of container shipping and what evolution has taken place in order for global shipping to grow into its size of today?

Our Historian, Charlotte Andersen, visits the Maritime Museum of Denmark to dig deeper into the history of container shipping. During her visit, she talks to Curator, Thorbjørn Thaarup, who shows some of the museum exhibitions including their models of Chastine Mærsk, the general cargo ship of the 1950s and the modern container ship Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller.
