The Maritime City is a multi-billion project set to launch in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, in 2021. It aims to transform Bislig City into the next global destination port in Asia. With its strategic location, the Maritime City shall offer a shorter transit for oil and other cargoes for vessels coming from Australia to Japan, Korea, China, the United States of America, and vice versa. Aside from being an anchorage for ships, it will also provide fuel, repair, and other services. Among the funders of the mega project is Aria Indonesia – Aria Asset Management of Luxembourg. The first phase shall break ground with simultaneous construction of the shipyard, container port, oil depot, hotel, and hospital.
