Will the 1966 Ford 3000 Tractor start after sitting for a Year

Today we try to start the 1966 Ford 3000 tractor. Will it start?, I sure hope so. time is running out for me to get the young chestnut trees planted in the chestnut orchard.
After tinkering with the tractor and realizing the ignition is bad, I try jumping the solenoid, charging the batter, checking wires, tightening gas lines and a few other things. So in the end did the ford tractor start? You will have to watch and see.

Brother when you out in the field and nothings seems to work you do what you have to do to make it work, start and run. I think those tractors have a natural safety switch that might keep it form getting power from the key switch to the starter solenoid. Thanks for sharing.

Kind Ol’ Gentleman

That’s quite a nice piece of history you have there! Thanks for sharing

I don't know…. You commented on my video that we were doing things beyond your capabilities.. then I watch you tinkering with an old Ford tractor… Looks like you have some good capabilities to me.
Gas engines need 3 things, good fuel, hot spark (at the right time) and clean air… As for getting it to turn over… Well, I see some comments about the neutral start switch. They go bad, just like anything else.
You are right, tedious work, but it's not difficult. Sounds like it runs pretty good 👍 born in a good year too👍😁

Spit and sputter but what did you expect leaving It set like that for a whole year.

Wildcat Hollow Farm

Sucks that you have to go through stuff like this in addition the major things that you are going through.

Love old tractors. My grandfather hand a 1940s Ford Tractor, and was still using it when in the mid-1960s he bought a used Massey (think that's the correct spelling), and I believe it was a 1960 tractor. Both tractors when still running great when he sold his farm and retired in 1985.

Don't know if it's your issue, but my Sears 12v battery charger does that if the battery had drained too low to properly/safely recharge it.

Hope you get thing worked out and get that old girl running and you get to planting.

Twin Brook Acres

It sounds good when running! A few minor repairs and she'll be good as new.

I think this is the best compliment you can give any content provider. I watch all your commercials.

TND Outdoors

Hope your neighbor got the bugs worked out for ya my friend.
Prayers are still going out to you guys take care.

That’s great brother! I really expected you to get it running! I was more worried about ya getting stung or bit uncovering it lol. I sure enjoyed it! 😊👍👏👏👏

Returning to Basics

Joey, I'm surprised you actually did get your tractor to start. You need to replace the starter solenoid, and the reason your battery charger was cutting off on that other battery is because the battery has gone bad from setting up and not being kept charged. There's nothing you can do to save a battery when that happens so you need to replace it. If you can find a Battery Outfitters in your area they sell 'blem' batteries. I have a Group 48 on my Ford 3000. It is much more affordable than a new battery and works great. Those Ford 3000's are tough and great tractors.

It's ALIVE! Give it a bit of TLC and it'll keep going forever.

Wow that thing is a relic! At least you got it running again best of luck with getting it back out in the field

IP Farms

Man yeah, persistence pays off!!! It very possibly could be the netural safety switch for the selecto speed, not letting crank right at times. Best to probably replace that whole bowl assembly and line, they are notorious. Get it fixed, it sits for a few days, go back it's pouring gas🤦 So nice to see you back up there Mr Joey, sorry I was late..notifications slipped by. Can't wait to see more.of this tractor!!
