( ) Watch more videos from TFL Studios! The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado lineup continues to offer no fewer than three off-road-capable trims, including the Z71, Trail Boss and top-dog ZR2 as the best-equipped version. But which one should you *really* buy? Is the Z71 all you really need, or should you go for the Trail Boss? Andre covers the differences in this comparison video!

On chevy's website it shows multiple engine options? In this video, you said it only has one option. It shows two levels of trail boss aswell. A custom which is a much less package and then an LT trail boss which has more options. Neither of them are in the 40k range.
What's the payload and towing spec on ZR2?
$40k-$50k for a 4-cyclinder truck 🤣🤣🤣
50k for a midsize chevy pickup. We're screwed.
Andre, is the Trail Boss the same offroad package as the AT4 from the GMC side?
I've always found the Z71 trim on the Colorado weird. It's supposed to be an off road package yet it is the top trim(excluding the ZR2). If anything they should have called it the RST or LTZ to help standardize their language and give you the option to have the Z71 package to get the more off road features the package is known for. Chevrolet's trims are pretty confusing as hell outside of their sport car line ups.
I hate the fact they only come in one cab/bed configuration
I like the trailboss for its blackout looks, but it defenetly needs LEDS headlights. I don't mind base features or dumb safety features that I don't need, but being able to see is such an important aspect of driving, us is 2023 now and there's lots of cheaper vehicles with LED standard. LED is probably the only OEM thing I think it looks better than after market.
I might a Colorado, but chevys' reliability is a major concern to me and 4 cyl engines, powerful yes, but that sound is just, I don't know, I feel part of owning a truck for play and trips is that sound.
With everything going on right now, the best decision to be on any creative man's heart is having a profitable investment strategy.
Why does the Z72 have lockable front and rear differentials and you can’t get them on the trail boss
Wow this is mid grade? Those interiors look like they did not really care and the base model looking all grey interior is super ugly and boring. Seems like not much creativity or thought went into this. I don’t even wanna know what the base model looks like. It’s like they said let’s just throw in a nice big screen in there and call it a day. Around high 40’s to 50 thousand?!? Helllll no. These are ugly to me inside and out. Crazy the old tacoma is still by far the best looking midsize truck by a landslide. Ford and GM just can’t seem to nail it all around for midsize trucks the way they do for full-size trucks.
$50k for a midsize truck is just sad……. I don’t care how nice it is or how much better they are nowadays……. That is almost the same money my dad paid for a BRAND NEW 3/4 ton, fully loaded truck just 18 years ago….. 🤦♂️
Do we get a new ZR2 also? I can't wait to see that one maybe on 35/37's!
massive attempt to just " wash away the Brain. of any recall of Very well-equipped Cars & trucks Prices~ just before the Communist Chinses Virus of a few years ago…
I currently drive a 19 Colorado long bed diesel 4×4 with 32" tires and an EIbach leveling kit. Other than a few electronic ghosts in the infotainment system it's been a great truck that I've gotten over 30 MPG highway on frequently, though not very often since the lift, tires and chin spoilerectomy. It's been great for the 114,000 miles I've driven it and it appears that replacing it will be impossible.
I'd go Colorado trail boss but even my 5'6" self would have to sleep diagonally inside a shell on one of these trucks and GM said in the previous generation that a slide in camper wasn't recommended and could result in frame damage which wouldn't be covered under warranty. This truck is more of a highway legal UTV than a truck, despite the rated payload which would allow a lightweight camper page 379 of the manual for my 2019 said no and given GM said this even on the 1500 I see no change coming.
With no one offering a diesel in the mid size segment and most not offering a long bed I'm leaning 1500 Silverado diesel Trail Boss. GM doesn't recommend a slide in camper due to risk of frame damage not covered under warranty but even the short bed only trail boss has enough width to sleep more comfortably than a midsize short bed and offers similar fuel economy with far greater utilitarian capacities.
I'd go with the Frontier to avoid the heat generating turbocharger that costs nearly as much as a short block to replace but their off road package is a joke, it's only available on the short bed and offers v8 like fuel economy.
Maybe Ford will do something good with the ranger but it's unlikely to be anything but short bed crew cab and a turbo 4 unless I want to pay up for the Ranger Raptor( if it gets here and the dealers don't "MARKET ADJUST" it to F150 tremor MSRP, even without the "adjustment" it costs more than the Custom Trail boss diesel Silverado.
Tacoma? Never liked the omnipresent Taco and with production moving out of the U.S. I'm not considering it.
My 2019 Colorado may be my last new truck.
Can’t wait to get my ZR2
You never showed the gauge cluster and setting options?
Let’s get the ZR2!
They should bring out a Trail Boss but with the LED lights and better interior like a Trail Boss LT on the Silverados
Nissan Frontier Pro-4X all day especially over the Z71 at $50k.
My God that's a hideous color. Like diarrhea
The new Trail Boss on the Colorado reminds me of the S10 ZR2 WAY more so than the current gen and the new gen ZR2. Simple truck, wide stance, lifted truck that's also a blank canvas that covers most buyer's boxes. The ZR2 now is midsize luxo Raptor spec truck.
If I was shopping for a 2023 I would definitely go with the trail boss. More off-roady And that color is🔥! The frills on the z71 are not necessary .
But after hearing those prices I’m really happy with the deal I got on my 2022 ZR-2 , 41,000 after discounts and incentives .
Bring back the Z71 Midnight Edition with the Trail Boss rims and tires.
wow the tb looks nicer and more aggressive than the z71! Thats my opinion though!
45-50 grand for a pickup truck. Geezus! I don't think I'll ever own a new vehicle. Insane.
When is the canyon being shown ?? Ty
I hate the size of the screen. If they would have shrunk it and integrated it into the dash better I might buy one. Passenger side looks good though.
Fantastic trucks. Chevrolet once again has done a great job building great trucks. Love the looks of the Trail Boss and ZR2. Can’t wait for the reviews and testing in Colorado.
I ordered a Z71 about a month ago. I plan to lift it with some Icon shocks (probably) and 33’s.
Is that andres new truck
The Trail Boss might be the trim to get here. It comes well equipped with everything you would need nothing you don’t. (well, maybe it’d be nice to have an option to upgrade to the better headlights)
This is becoming insane and has to stop. My 2020 Silverado RST with 4X4, heated seats, steering wheel, dual zone climate control, remote start had an MSRP of 46K. Absolutely insane 3 years later a Colorado with same engine is 4K more. Who's paying these prices? Stop the madness.
choose the one with the least dealer "market adjustment"
Leaf springs in 2023?! Big miss by Chevy.
Who CARES??.. they are both a joke🤣 gm trash and those great Rancho shocks 🤣 those things are garbage
Unbelievable you will pay around $45k for a trail boss and you get cheap old halogen reflectors in this day and age. LED headlights should be standard across the board.
What is with all the beeps at startup? To remind you that you just turned it on? Lol
u didnt even drive the effin trucks
bullshit waste of time
Trailboss looks like it has better clearance? Do both have a skid plate?
I love my 2016 Colorado Z71. I really love that Trail Boss!
Making money is an action. Keeping money is behavior. Growing money is knowledge……
That Z71 with a couple inch lift and some 33's would look real nice!
