americans will do what americans will do because were very US-centric. but objectively the hummer is too much excess. imagine 200,000 of those out on the road. thankfully its only being built in small quantities. to a lesser extent its similar with the Rivian. some what excessive as well since its not very efficient but also relatively low numbers in the grand scale of things. Lightning is concerning because that will probably be the biggest seller of the 3 and its also not very efficient.

counter argument however is that we need to accelerate our non-reliance on fossil fuels. if all three of these build excitement and adoption for EVs in the short tern, then the short term excess (and waste) might be a worthwhile tradeoff. long term, they need to get more efficient and we need to build better battery, charging and infrastructure technologies for this all to move in the right direction.

“Butts in seats” — Very true- EVs are better than ICE vehicles. The more people that drive them and experience the difference the quicker the adoption rate!!
