I recently did a full suspension replacement on my 2000 jeep Cherokee because it still had all factory parts and when I pulled one of my rear shocks out after unbolting it it didn’t extend back out

Shocks don't last for shit on a semi. I had trucks that would go from fla to Texas and back and they were toast
I chamge mine every 6 months because they got warranty

The problem is that the companies don't care, shocks are the farthest thing from their minds
Rule of thumb for shocks…after truck comes of the road feel them. If they’re cold they’re old! Cold shocks aren’t absorbing the road
My truck is a bit overdue. It’s got 46 year old shocks
Just replaced mine. Blew out when I just got out of Atlanta. $980 for all 6. Need to replace trailer shocks as well smh
They’re only good for about 100,000 miles but I see trucks that come in 8-10 years old and got the original shocks on em.

Maybe you shouldn't be giving anyone advice on truck repair. Sounds like you run some hole in the wall repair shop that screws people over all the time.
Why not replace them when they leak?
I have a Freightliner century class and i every 3 months i have at least a few shock's!….i use Gabriel fleet from the dealer….are those bad brands? And what should i use instead?

Once a year is not necessary. Change them once you replace tires.

That rusty part is just a cover it's not the actual shock ! It keeps the dirt and grime off the shaft ! If it's not leaking and ur not bouncing it's fine
To all the people who don’t understand this, this video is for commercial truck drivers, you know the big ones you see on the highway, trucks will drive between 2k-3k miles a week depending on some factors

I change struts at least once a year or every other depends on if I can hear them
