He’s a professional extra in movies and TV. You may have caught him as an alien Starfleet officer. When he’s home, he breeds exotic fish with a farm of 50 tanks in his 1-bedroom apartment.
In this edition of SIDE HUSTLES, we meet @AquaMalik, a “fish influencer” who lives with 3000 to 5000 fish (depending on the month) and started breeding when he was seven in Sri Lanka. Malik lets us into his home where he broadcasts his conservationist passion, to the anger of some breeders who feel he’s giving away fish trade secrets. Malik gets back to selling outside his apartment after lockdown, attempts to save virtually extinct species, and shares all that he’s given up and gained from his fish.

Interesting, thanks.
Good job Malik, Im always looking for ways to make money. This has never crossed my mind, I thought about birds and dogs but never fish. Coolio!!
Ta jagnjetina is pod saca je za oskara
Why does this seem like Duece Bigalow in real life 😂😂😂
Something about this guy is fishy 🤣🤣
I need someone to take care of me as much as he takes care of his fish babies
Duece bigalow
seems like he doesn't know the proper name for those cichlids @ 8:37 they're flowerhorn and were popular fish back in the 2000s in southeast asia. there were even competitions for it who can grow the biggest "horn" or the most brightly lit red. i had a red dragon flowerhorn back then. it was gorgeous fish. i had preference for the redness though instead of the horn so the diet i gave it focuses on enhancing it's redness and completely avoiding growing the horn.
I like to se that the fish get high too becouse of this dude smoking blunt in his fish room.
This dude doesn’t make nearly As much as he claims. Glofish are copyrighted and sterile first of all. Can’t breed those legally. Angel fish are NOT profitable they go for around 5$. Zebras go for 100 retail lmao
This is amazing!
he seems like such a cool interesting dude keep up the good work Malik!
hope he can get himself a nice big house one day for a huge fish room!
I’m sorry but if I had to turn my entire house into an aquarium it wouldn’t be work 45k lmfao. Plus I’m sure half that or more is spent just on upkeep for the fish
This guy is the ultimate sigma male. Changing a stupid thot for his passion.
Sad to say but this dude does not make 45k a year with these fish
This man has a golden heart !❤️
"I'm the only one that can keep most of them alive"
It's so hard to care for the most common community fish in the hobby… other then the L046.
Good work though
I can't live in unorganized place like that.
Reading these comments, I see that we need a dating site for us fish people. Too bad Plenty Of Fish is taken! 🤣
Respect ✊🏾 D Hustle! We call this the American Dream but you Canadian so it’s the Canadian Dream! Awesome bro!
she did not know he made good money with that…
elon needs to hire this guy for repopulating mars.
My question is which apartment let him do this. 😂
It’s pretty kool what you do
Ok all stoned with the fish In space lol 😆
"this is my living room fish room"
this man is passionate about his business 👍
Respect ✊
my fish more beatiful than my ex..
I was brought up in a house exactly like this, full of tanks!! Hundreds of fish tanks in our house when i was a kid!!
My brother who done this in the 1960s and 70s then started his own aquarium shop and went on to be Welsh fish keeper of the year for 24 years running.
He is now a millionaire and lives in Spain and is a total workaholic.
It all started off for him in the early60s when there was a hot water canal near to us in St. Helens, UK it was a water outlet for polkingyons glass who used to release hot water from making glass, people who were getting rid of fish tanks would throw there tropical fish in there and my brother used to go and catch them, breed them and sell them to the fish shops in and around Liverpool.
this would be an awesome project for covid tbh it seems really cool
i got mad at vice for not having more content like this, then i realised many people are not as cool as Malik man!
best thing vice did in the last decade. Vice doesnt understand most of thier audience is smart and wants content like this
Burn iit 🔥 haha yee
A breeding at 7????? I couldn’t KEEP a fish alive at 7. But good for you, using fish and what you love and I’m sorry you had to grow up like that
people sell their souls for a little cash
while malik is doing something amazing!

Coolest and least cringe vice content in ages! Thanks!
oh my friends ended up loaded (he's a uni student) for a short time for breeding grade A/show class betta. he's got bored eventually but damn that was very interesting period.
I'm from Sri Lanka too. AND fish obsessed. I think I wanna be u one day. Fish make me happy, and I guess that's the best way to live
