You don’t get many opportunities to see what lies beneath the waters surface, especially on a reservoir that is over 200 years old, and that’s exactly what we do in this video. Join me at the Harthill Reservoir, where they are undertaking the winter works ahead of the engineering works on the dam wall. The reservoir water level has already been significantly reduced prior to the fish being netted, so you can get the idea of the topography of the reservoir bed. Will we get any surprises along the way and how many fish will the reservoir hold…….
hope you enjoy the video, something slightly different to normal but hopefully interesting
thanks Kayleigh

Carps are trash fish !!!!
What's the biggest fish to come out
What did they do with all the fish ? I know my freezer would have been full ! More seriously, did they sell them, give them to a food pantry, try to relocate them to another lake or ?
really enjoyed the video also gives anglers a chance to see the layout of the lake bed , looks a fairly shallow Reservoir ,
I had no Idea that there were Pike in England's waterways, I know they are in Norther EUropean waters, I they are as common as house flies here in Canada but I had no idea that England had them too! Are they endemic or were they introduced?
Some right crumping roach in there.
And they don't return them back, the res is empty of fish now
Roach and proper roach at that ' really enjoyed that luv ,don't know if it's the school boy that's in this old carcass somewhere but have always been fascinated by water and what lies in its murky depths . 👍🤣
caught any mermaids yet cant think what's on the menu this evening?
Greetings from Auz. Some big fish in there. Do the alligators not cause issues with stock levels there then?
Very nice roach amongst all the 6lb carp..I can't get excited about bream unless they're in double figures.
You just destroyed that other waterway putting all those carp in it. Didn’t you notice the capture net was almost entirely carp? They destroy and eat the other fish nests. You should of only saved the non carp species.
Funny how they Value the carp like they were Salmon Haha i like catching them but they overrun lakes and rivers in the united states they are a invasive fish.
Great to see the res again. I haven't been there for years my Father, Sister and myself had season tickets through the latter 70's and early 80's if I remember right the secretary who issued the tickets was called Harry King and lived on the estate as you drive up to the res. Brilliant mixed fishing, although the carp always seem to allude us.
Stinking European carp, we despise these fish here in Australia, in fact it's illegal to throw them back if you catch one. You've got to kill it and dump it away from the river edge. It's illegal to throw them back in dead as well. They destroy the waterways here by sucking up the mud on the banks causing severe erosion, they also outcompete all the native fish. Why they were ever brought here and released I have no idea
Fox in a hen house springs to mind with that Pike in the net! Some gorgeous fish there, Bream, Tench especially and big Roach.
Removed and put where ???
shame the guys running the place wanted the pike dead and the large carp removed to make another bloody match lake for there f1's
I”m a trout fisher and appreciate good fishery management, less handling the better, avoid stressing the fish on transfer
Joke of a place , it’s been like that for ages now .
The Pike will have a field day once settled, with an over populated pond.
big net full of fish is great .
as far as i know these fish have been located to huddersfield narrow canal slathwaite angling club
Some specimen fish, what was the size of pike?
Fish look healthy
Fished it for years now they took them out its finished we all know they wont be going back in
I'm a trout fisherman but enjoyed your video . My only concern is , was it necessary to handle the fish as often in their removal from reservoir to the other especially when releasing them
Just hope they put all the fish back. Did same at elsacer res and we never seen the bigger fish ever again.
Some lovely roach and hybrids, and bream in the mix ! Healthy looking pike and carp too, this looks a great mixed fishery, with healthy looking specimens of all species.
You guys should be proud of these venues. 😎
Verry clear speaking, I think 0.00001 percent understand you
It's strange that there is a reservoir in Caldercruix just by Airdrie near a village called Harthill.
I have never seen this spance of water so low.
I walked round it late summer, there was also work being carried out down the damback end. The word on the street was the climate change, the dreadful threat to modern life and society, however I know they were emptying the water out to a not so local canal. I have never seen the canal so high ever, sluices releasing water daily.
Nice roach
It's amazing how arcaic the methods are here in Britain.Other countries with decent governments are a lot more mechanised and efficient
I felt a bit guilty after watching this vid, eating my fish finger and tomatoe sauce sandwich.
Saw the title and thought, fair play, that's a big job for a little lass! 😁
The Pike looked particularly pleased being in the net with all the course fish
Was there no Big Eels in there
Enjoyed the video. Was a member of a syndicate which had the fishing rights on a small lake. Back then Severn Trent removed a lot of the smaller fish for restocking elsewhere and I remember they used a technique involving passing an electric current throught the water. I know a close eye was kept on them but to be fair it didn't cost the syndicate anything.
Was it only me that didnt see any perch?
