LOL just watched a vid about this lock. You popped up as the next vid. Sometimes YT works.

Product discontinued.

So you know how to pick locks! NOT everyone does! If a thief wants it they'll take it. All it's meant to do is make them look for easier targets BRAIN!

John Gifford

I can't think of a reason to regularly take the tailgate off. I think I'll get one of these and fill the key hole with JB Weld.

Daniel Roglich

Interesting lock, too bad it was made by "Master lock " lol. Thanks for the review

Two bolts and a short length of chain right tear inside of bed a tailgate works great on my Silverado

A suggested lock to pick too is Pop & Lock PL9900 Black Tailgate Collar Lock

BaconMinion

The moment he started to move the rake, I said click. Little did I know that the lock had opened just as I did so.

Jokes have become reality.

Most of the people posting comments here should learn to look at the bigger picture here most people with the mentality to steal tailgates are not going to take the time or even possess the skills to pick a lock most likely in the dark they would just move on to an easier target thus preventing the theft and making the lock do exactly what it was designed to do prevent theft not be unpickable Master Lock did not become the company they are by thinking narrow mind idly most locks by design are not that difficult to defeat if you have the skills knowledge and tools to do so which most of the general public does not.

How fast can you pick it when it is fired on the tailgate of a lifted, covered in mud truck sitting on 35"+ tires. Just curious, I'm sure it is much more difficult under real world conditions vs holding it in your hand.

Master Lock’s arch nemesis strikes again

Best lock for a tailgate is a 30 cent pipe/hose clamp with the slot for the screwdriver ground out after installing it.   good luck getting a pair of side cutters to bite on a piece of stainless steel band that is only 1.5 mil thick.

LPL, can that be shimmed with a thin stronger feeler guage ?? Thank you for sharing.

Strange looking chastity device.

OH MY GOD YOU DID ONE OH MY GOD

I never thought my tailgate could be stolen till I walked out to my truck one morning. I bought the masterlock but its junk, most people just use a steel hose clamp around the hinge and works as well. Without either the tailgate can be stolen in about 4 seconds.

adam

i feel so much better knowing our critical infrastructure is secured with masterlocks.

BIG GUY SIMPLE PRODUCTIONS

The way you display how bad so many of these locks are makes me want to steal shit. I'm lazy I won't but I enjoy your intelligent videos thank you lock picking lawyer

Hi, can you do a review on “Seatylock” a foldable bike lock with a seat? Id love to see how it holds up

Casey Russell

Tailgate theft must be specific to parts of the country that use a ton of salt on the roads. Here in California they steal the whole truck!

John Opalko

If you want to prevent theft, just get a pickup that looks like my old F-250. Damn thing was so ugly it scared thieves away.

SUNCOAST PICKER

Just heard there is a market for tailgates with cameras. You would think auto manufacturing would figure THIS out and do something about it .😎

This guy prolly hits his wifes G-spot on the first finger insertion. I wouldn't be suprised if foreplay starts with a tensioner and rake lol!!

Adrien Ragot

How did MasterLock become a company??? More seriously, what lock do they use for their offices?

Dan2024

Can you do a vid to see if an orion road flare or a fusee flare can melt through a lock? That would be awesome to see

Daddypants

Master lock trying to compete with a simple hose clamp and failing!

highlifeman007

Are you able to do videos with locks being used in real world applications and how easy in real life this would be? I have a feeling in real life would be harder do to limitations in accessibility and positioning.

Neathway

Given its intended purpose, and location, that would be a pain to pick on the truck. The tumbler would be upside down and there would be limited access for tensioning. It would be especially difficult for right handed pickers to get into a position where their tensioning hand wouldn't be in the way of their pick hand. I wonder how this one would stand up to brute force attacks, in it's intended location.

Jillian Latorre

I wonder if there are driver pins too short to go into the bible like the Master No. 3.

Hi lpl i stumbled across your videos today, always wondered how easy lockpicking was to learn and after watching some videos id imagine it must take alot of practice. Im curious as a beginner where i would start or which type of locks i would start with?

Grant Thomas

I put a hose clamp around where that would go. I ground off the head of the nut on the hose clamp too. I think the hose clamp may be harder to remove because you need more tools than a pick and tension wrench

if someone didn't care about noise… a cordless dremel with a diamond cutoff wheel would cut right through the back of that spine. curious to see HOW the core and everything is held in place considering how few rivets are seen on the body… may be possible to grind and pop rivets out and just dump the core and locking pawl in about the same time it'd take to pick.
