How is it the drivers fault, he doesn't choose the route he drivers on, I'm sure the company tells him where to go, and unfortunately this happened and I don't feel he should take all the blame

Debbie Pillay

The goverment must be resbonssble
For road signs….Really what are the goverment workers do…

Debbie Pillay

Stop labour brokers ban this ..that why people uneployed..companys must hire them…..all experiance workers are unemployef ..company want cheap labour..

Siphelele Mthembu

These Ex drivers are expressing their grievances on a wrong plattform, accidents are accidents, the drive did everything in his power and reported to the police and was told its festive season they were short stuffed, because our people used to loot they thought it was petrol.

Fungie Nyilika

So the controller didn't tell him

Melisentia Pheiffer

Appealing to people's emotions. The driver drove that truck for 7 long years.

LesegoYv

We can all be experienced but not having the same experience, even with the most experienced drivers accidents have happened. Most experienced health workers accidents have happened.

Maybe he should have this an that comes from privileged individuals who've never came across this challenge.

Debbie Pillay

Companys must open their eyes taking cheap labour..and putting danger to the public..

Debbie Pillay

All excuses wont bring back those lives

Debbie Pillay

Stop feeling sorry for the driver
His company says his welll experiamce…soò he was to do the righ thing…stayed there and saved lives…how full you account for all the lives lost…even he left the sene he should put the company to look out for other people…that bridge is low he should not go through…
He must face it ..

Onismus Mohwaila

The companies must hire experienced drivers because the bridge got heights restrictions I as a driver I use to deliver in boksburg memorial hospital were by I use to doubt that bridge using np200 with a panel van canopy so now people lost their life's because of that may their soul continue resting well its very painful indeed.

Welcome Tshuma

I think the driver will go down…This was a new route that he had never used before…probably not authorized for vehicles carrying dangerous goods….and the fact that the bridge was not labeled with height restriction and was of similar height to the truck meant that that was a potential incident….So the correct decision was to pull the vehicle over and call for help instead of experimenting or taking such a huge risk

The driver survived? How?

Yoliswa Baba

I knew it! Inexperienced unproffessional cow!

Yolandi Oberholzer

I think he went off the road to pattla pattla

aili natanael

I don't blame the truck driver but he should have warm people to move away at least. First he ignored the road signs. He should have tell people that the is danger.

Nomore Paul Garawaziva

Yah we assumed the clue, venecula language would have made our lives easy 🤔Jesus🤔🤔

Peach

The driver3is response for is act! Why did he leave his route? No excuses!

I once rented an apartment from a company named infinitum the owner of the apartment came about a week after I moved in. She told me that she had not given the agent the mandate to manage her property. I went to the offices, I was told to go to the police. I hope it’s not the same guy. By the way he sounds so arrogant….. mhhhh I honestly hope that it’s not the same guy. I was just on Google trying to find out who owns this company. I hope it’s not him.

Mariam Moola

The owners of this company must be taken to task for this.
The drive was not trained to drive this truck.

Hannes van Wyk

These drivers were fired due to a illegal strike, as well as holding these exact same trucks hostage so that police had to disperse them. SABC do your research before interviewing criminals.

nduduzo shozi

No case against the driver. We can't expect him to guess the height restrictions if are not written, pasted and visible

Thabo Kadiaka

These former employees providing a lot of information.

Big show

A truck carrying dangerous goods
1.Where was the controller from the company when he was getting lost .

Thembisile Myataza

Secondly who is responsible for the training of new drivers and paper trail to prove such from the company’s safety department !

Where was the company’s truck controller who watches the trucks on route to warn him in advance !??

Why is he going alone to court 🙆🏾‍♀️🙆🏾‍♀️🙆🏾‍♀️

Thembisile Myataza

Question: I believe the truck drivers are given specific route to take …based on a number of factors including the heights of the bridges , traffic , time route that designated route takes to get to the client for delivery time agreed on .I stand for correction 👏

United Report

negligence you can see that bridge is small that was reckless…the company and the driver all should be responsible

thinus buys

I agree with all the drivers especially the last one, indeed there multiple persons responsible for the accident, I saw something very interesting on google street view were the accident happen (taken on November 2021) the road sign that indicate the hight of the bridge is net very visible. My question is, did those that are responsible for the road signs replace them? If not they must also be held responsible of this tragedy.

Fidelis Msomi

conveying dangerous goods you should know that only police officers that can instruct you to deviate from your planned journey and you must report to your supervisor for deviation. again as a truck driver of dangerous goods you have a responsibility to warn other road users or bystanders of danger.

diemzo 🇿🇦

> Wow, these guys are so experienced, see the important point this 3rd guy has made that:
1. he sould have slowed down & checked,
2. and if the truck get stuck he could get assistance to REVERSE or
3. even Release air from the TYRES to bring the HEIGHT down a bit.
(that's a loss for the company.)

moosesnWoop123

This is a shared responsiblity. The driver caused the accident but failiures from Police and Fire lead to the deaths of 18 and injured 50

Lawrence Nannes

Want to how experienced this driver was as well as police and firemen that attended this incident.our government negligence regulating disaster management.too many loose ends here!!!!!

What happened to the car parked next to the tanker?

Elliot Sikhafungana

The former colleagues are burying this driver alive,

mr maths

The short cut from this companies with their managers trying to save money is unacceptable. They chase qualified drivers away and use cheap labor. That company must clse down immediately.

Mbuyisa MANANA

The #BoksburgExplosion is a serious labour relations
matter.

How a company would entrust both dangerous goods, lives and critical infrastructure to inexperienced driver's.

Suicidal missions of ISS.

Johan Bezuidenhout

The owner and monitor should also be arrested and stand with the driver , in court , too Safety laws have been broken

noel nadasan

Forget the bridge that is the wrong road to where he was going. That road is not made for those trucks

ZA murders

When you have to employ people who are 30%ers.
This is a tragedy regardless of anything else. Just wondering why name of driver not released.
Why was driver not using national roads?

Pieter Rossouw

Yikes it's torches and pitchforks for the driver in the comments – very few comments acknowledging any of the nuances of this situation.

If you lost a loved one in this I'd understand but many just seem to want to pass judgments for something like revenge when this driver did nothing to harm you. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
