Probably should have been scrapped but poor folks have poor ways.
I really doubt the structural strength of this repair though. The fracture spot is still there and weld is not strong enough to hold torque from truck.

My dad would've kicked my ass if I tried this repair around him. Unless it was an emergency fix to get it to a shop its not worth the time or materials
If there is enough torque to shear the shaft like that welds are not gonna work for long. The only way to fix this would be to preheat and do metal pour thermite weld in a mold around the damaged sections. 🤓

For those who have an idea of what mechanical repair is all about this is really bad worksmamship. This is about sticking two pieces of metal together.
