Wow, what a story.
That was the last words I ever heard from the police about my 1970 Mach 1 " you don't do anyting, let us do our job and we will take care of it".
I drove truck for a living and was out of town most of the time so I decided to let them do their job.
Only to find out 10 and 15 years later that there was no police report or anything on file. They never investigated it properly and if they did I would probably still have my Mustang today.
Because in hindsight and after I demanded that they do a investigation so it can be on file legitimately in case I ever found it.
We found out that it was probably impounded by the city for parking ordinance and probably sitting there until it was sent to a Crusher.

Man the cops suck so hard. Gives nobody any faith in their corrupt ways and behaviors.
You take this sorry pos to court. Do not let him get away with destroying your property. As a long time driver and owner myself, "retired" , I had the very same thing happen to me in Sevierville, TN. on I-40 and that driver ran. I wasn't able to follow him but a short distance and so he got away with it. That cost me a lot of money to fix my truck. You have the law and video on your side. Use it!
