Wil Brookins says he and other Kia West Edmonton salespeople were under orders to ignore price protection laws and force customers to shell out thousands of dollars extra to buy a vehicle.

That's right! Kia dealers are insane about markup adjustment prices.i just gave up trying to buy a Sportage Prestige because they add almost 10k in ridiculous items that supposely are mandatory in the price…instead a got a Subaru Outback limited at much less money.Very happy with my choice.
I live here in Florida and they do it here. I went in and the car was listed as $21000 and they bring a price of $27500. They added their special coverage for $2500 and would not take it off when I asked. So I left and went to another dealership and something. So I order a Tesla.
Owner is a crook
Can y’all look into the Kia in Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana bc they are doing the same thing. Pricing cars 10x over as soon as they hit the lot. Seltos is priced 29,000 basic model but they stop u from buying the car at that bc they want to mark it up and sell for 35,000+. It’s not right. I can’t get a car from them bc they are trying to be greedy.
You have a right to look for a private investigator to investigate this car company and all others to why this is and you have a right to an open lawsuit to fight this
By the way I would say they're doing extortion fraud and abuse to anyone who buys in vehicle from there because this is out of control misconduct of using anyone who comes in to buy a car why would they want to buy it if it's hidden fees behind it they need to be straight with the customer stop abusing the civil rights of human civil rights
U can walk away from these scams 😆 people in this country are too nice for their own good.
Good to know not to shop at KIA
This is common in the US. My toyota is advertised as 23k. However, the moment I expressed my wish to buy it, the closing cost is $35. God knows what kind of fees they added? I just went with the flow to get the car since I couldn't afford $900 weekly car rental fee.
all in pricing for restaurants too, those self entitled people thinking tips are part the fees.
Sounds like we are getting ripped off here in Australia but maybe not as much as US eople did 🤣😂. I bought my 2017 Kia Sorento for $70k AUD (brand new top of the range) and had to pay extra $1.5k AUD for paint protection and other fees plus tax for almost $3k WTF! 😅🤣😂
Rip. Off. That’s. What. I. See. The
Duck. 😮
I see an advertised vehicle, call and make an appointment for a test drive but when I get there, they tell me that the vehicle has been sold. However, they then say that they have another of the same trim but it comes with paint protection and a few other useless things and the vehicle costs an additional 2k.
Its not just Kia. It's most dealerships. Usually a salesman won't make more than $50-100 on an MSRP deal. There's about $0-900 margin from invoice, all of which the dealership keeps thru PACs (protection against commission). The salespeople must sell the over MSRP however they can in order to make a paycheck. Unfortunately at the expense of the consumer.. but that's just the way it is in the car biz. (Unless your talking luxury cars with bigger margins built in).
"Yes, but we can get financing for anyone, even YOU'
I had that same situation in 10 Kia Florida dealerships!! They wanted to give me 15K less for my trade-in, and when I said no, let me get the van as a second car, they would, for there’s mark it up for 15K!! So damn if you and damn if you do! They're going to get that 15K one way or the other! My trade is worth 59K, so if I allowed them to mark up their 15K and depreciate mine for 15K, that's 30K into their pockets for the price of two cars! They see your desperation and will use it to brake your pockets cause they know you need it smdh.
Not only happening in Canada but here in the USA as well. These dealerships are completely out of control on their pricing and their greed. I will not play their game any longer !
DEALERSAHIPS rip you off !!! and the problem now is because of shortage they tell you take it or leave it and force you to pay! they might as well put a gun to your heaD
Not surprising. I can confirm this is the case as well in Saskatchewan, at least at the Saskatoon's dealership. I enquired for a Seltos and the actual price ended up being about 8k more than the advertised one. I ended up walking across the street and got a myself a beautiful Nissan paying exactly what was marked on the window sticker.
Why have dealerships at all? Or at least not REQUIRE them. It's 2023 not 1950.
This really isn't limited to a kia dealership. This is currently an industry wide practice. Some dealership are really bad. It doesn't matter the brand.
I've been saying for years Kia Hyundai use poor cheap wire harnesses which turn into electrical problems on the vehicles & now fires, I had a 16 Sorento what a nightmare almost everything broke electrical issues up the a** battery continually dying, moon roof wouldn't close just a disaster, they entice with the designs of the car but reliability eventually catches up to you… I remember Hyundai back in the 80s Pony Stellar were also disasters.
I loved my Kia 2013 Kia Sportage. I was a Honda and Toyota owner for years and on an impulsive buy I decide to go against my own advice and bought my 2013 Kia Sportage brand spanking new. I really didn't have a complaint about Kia until I was riding down the highway one evening and the car just lost power. After towing it away the mechanic told me that the engine was seized and it was a $7000 repair. He advised me to call Kia because this appears to be a Known issue.
Hyundai KIA cars are
1. catches fire,
2. easy to steal,
3. engine Blow up
4. weakest transmission in the market
5. company lie about gas mileage
6. insurance refuse to cover
7. use child labor to manufacture.
8.dealership breaks 'all-in pricing' law
Keep naming these dealerships in the media – consumers that care about their money will refuse to spend their money with these crooks.
Never buy from them. Never take you car there to get serviced. It's such a thieving racket.
So, should we, as Canadians, sue the dealerships for false advertising or the government bodies responsible for ensuring the 'all-in' price is adhered to? Personally, as a consumer, I feel both need a hefty wake-up call. The dealerships for lying and misleading us and the government agency for wasting our tax dollars. 😡😡

It's sounds like the public needs to go after the law makers and enforcers! Because if the reason is not enough law enforcement then the people should have the right to enforce it themselves! There is no excuse for bad service or bad behavior!
i COMPLAINED once to the "regulator" . Was told there was nothing they can do.
I was there in December to buy a trash kia car and saw WILL he told me the car for car which was 10k more. Walked out in 5 min. WILL called me you won't find a car anywhere. Scammer kia west edmonton
This made me laugh so hard that I now have a belly ache! Only bozos buy Kias anyway. They would need to pay me $50 grand just to be seen in one of those piles.
This same dealership has been blasted on the news for this exact thing in the past.
#Climatescam
I think there's enough people that have bought from that dealership for class action. They did the same for me, charging me $9000 more than advertised price
Please check Toyota too
1:09 Welcome, eh? 🤣
