Finishing Secondary Transmission…. Mini 4WD Trophy Truck Project – Part 9



With this project we are taking chain drive to the next level and seeing how well it works with 4WD and large 32″ tires. I’ve had great success with the chain drive setup on the CBR1000 buggy so with this project I want to build it again but this time we are making it 4WD with big 32″ tires and its a two seater. we are using a T90 transmission as a transfer case to give us high/medium/low range and reverse.

Great build as allways. I am with you on the trailing arms and chains, so much cooler than buying CV axles. Just need to keep them covered when running.

Loving your build Chris. In an extra video by a visitor you mentioned turbo or supercharging in the future, confess to hoping this happens.

Have you looked at belt driven Rotary Superchargers, a few videos on the internet showing them opened and the planetary gears inside, a serious machining challenge taking a blown turbo unit and using the cold side mated to a homemade drive system just a thought.

On every build you do, I can see your fabrication skills just keep going up and up, you're definitely an inspirational worker.
I would just point out that you don't absolutely need to use round tubing on the entire frame, (which you don't, I can say) you can incorporate more flat bar, u-channel, t-bar etc. etc.

You need to level out your lathe I see it wobbling as your cutting. Should be level and but most importantly both beds parallel

Why not use your arc droid to cut out the splines of gears vs machining it all away? Then when u need a spline you can weld that cutout into the other piece vs making new spines?

been following you for a while… thats allot of chains… can you chain drive a shaft to a front and rear diff and half shafts to the wheel hubs..
