Loaded Propane Truck Stranded in The Mountains.

This propane truck attempted to get to a state ran radio communications site to fill their generator tank WAY too late in the season and slid off the road in the snow. The propane company called asking if I could go up and help pull it back onto the road, but didn’t have all the information I would have liked to have, so I went up to see if I could get it out. When I got there and realized how bad the situation was, I knew there was nothing I could do for the propane truck, but I was able to get the ODOT truck that was stranded on the other side out. With as long as it had been up there, and as bad as the road was, my suggestion was to leave it there until spring, but the propane company really wanted it out.

Glad you were able to get the ODOT truck free. That was a 4P situation.

Mr Fingers

Most tow trucks offer battery boosting .

Bryan Mitchell

Was a pretty nifty recovery all in all, I wonder if they’ll call you to come get the other truck once there’s less snow, if they were cool, they would

Harold Nelson

Looks like a Chinook helicopter or a heavy-lift Sikorsky Sky Crane needs to be utilized. AIRBOURNE!!

Allen Wilson

The propane company should have been more honest with you about the situation , that could have got really bad really quick

DailyGrindAus

Wow, that was some precision winching. I think you might be good at this!

Greg Eigsti

Epic! Thanks for sharing!

Tim Pollock

Much respect for your skills Casey!

J B

Sounds like the communication capabilities at my place of work.

Dan Quirke

Casey, consider getting a spare 12,000 lbs winch and put it on a Reese hitch mount. You can take it and a spare battery in the track jeep on a job like this. Strap it to a tree and it's like having a 2nd vehicle. Not a ton of run time on an independent battery bit it will give you 50' or so with full power no problem.

Wayne

Ordeal !!! .

ph ts

And you wonder how people get anything done

Ryan Murphy

no offense to you or us that watch, but i hate people! many lie few tell the truth.

Jay Stax

It appeard to me that that truck could have just driven around that propane truck. Seemed to have plenty of traction.

Joe Bramblett

You got plenty of propane right there, so just drag out the weed burner and start melting a path. :p

Corey Smart

Being that I am born and raised in Maine, hauled logs with tractor tailers I am used to unplowed hauls. Aslo spent 6 yrs in North Dakota hauling Crude and the same thing unplowed roads. Now I would think that the DOT and Propane company would use their heads to bulk for the winter months sono deliveries would be necessary. But what do I know "I'm just a truck driver". Great job keep up the great work Casey

Jered Dederer

You say "I never said I was good at this", but this proves YOUR EXCELLENT at it! Way to know your limits.

Tom De Schrijver

Knowing your limits is also a part of being professional. Well done 👍

Paula Coulter

Commercial requests should pay you! If they don't I would never patronize them. They are for profit so please tell you didn't do this for free.

Rhonda Sweeney

Great job! You used your common sense and that speaks a lot

J By

I am horrified to see some of the commenters believe you should have attempted to recover the propane truck. There is no way anyone should attempt to tow a vehicle that so grossly out weighs them on that steep of a slope and in those road conditions. It would have been foolish and reckless, if not insane. No amount of money could have made it worth the risk. Good job Casey & great judgement call. Shame on the propane company for their lies & incompetence.

Eric Hodges

Watched both of these videos

Serious mistakes were made?

The weather was far too extreme to continue?
What happens to the tow company and now that they rolled a propane truck?

MKH

After all the misleading information from the propane truck company I'm surprised you didn't insist on payment in advance for your efforts
Can't believe the propane truck idiots didn't bring some batteries with him

deryaner35

Well done Casey!

fastst1

Gonna have to watch both! I'm thinking a D9 winch cat and push down to bare gravel 🙂

xxlxpman

You would have thought ODOT would have sent a plow truck to lead the propane truck in or get an extra tank or two up there so they won't have to go in during winter. Nice job, by the way!!!

t-ray pedersen

so the ODOT truck has a winch…..did he not know how to use it, or was it broke?

Golf Addict

It is so cool how you can engineer ways to make what you have work. Another great job.

Sandra Lutz-Rodriguez

Holy crap Casey they got themselves in a pickle here. After making several bad decisions and leaving the light on you now had a massive slug to get the ODOT truck around. Your creative rigging and keeping people save is topnotch. Seriously mad respect Casey! On to part 2!

Eric Livesay

It looks like that ODOT truck could have gotten out without help.

Lars

There are people you are BRUTALLY honest with. Your Dr., your lawyer. (It’s unlikely they have not heard worse) but also people coming to rescue you. It wouldn’t have changed much. But Casey might have removed, hauled batteries down. If dead for a week. Likely frozen, ruined. But if hauled to shop. They could be thawed, attempted to charge. (You would know if just worth core return). So new, charged batteries sent on recovery. If this was Mid Feb. leaving it 4 more weeks? Might totally change situation.

Patricia Eich

Great recovery Casey. 40 years ago my husband and I lived in John Day. I always dreaded the road through the Ochoco’s in the winter. Slid off the road a bit one night headed back from Bend. Put on chains and made it out but somehow lost one chain. My friend and I pulled into Mitchell and used a pay phone to let our families know we would be late.

Lonnie T.

OK NOW I HAVE WATCHED ALL 3 OF THE PROPANE TRUCK RESCUE! NICELY DONE BY ALL INVOLVED!

Rob Clark

So, from my understanding, if you can find it, there's some free propane up in the woods LOLZ

chimera

I am not gonna be mean, bcs people like that give you great content, which results in good videos for us. But the stuff some of these people do is actually ridiculous.

Troy Parrish

I take it this is the recovery you could not talk about a month or 2 ago.

Mark Munro

Great job Casey.😊

Glenn J

Wow talk about Miss-information 🤔😳

Tom Croese Høivold

Yes, you manage this!

Adrian ABG

Hwt Ford is a 30k lb truck?

Keith Pearson

Why not set up a 4w.d. truck for on / off road snow plowing re : deep woods recovery ? Trailer or wheel lift / dolly it there ? It appears Casey's l.r. outside tire has a severe separation .

porridgeable dunne

I can't help feeling that he wanted to call them a bunch of dicks for making such stupid decisions. Casey, you have the patience of a Saint.

quarrydesigns

Seems to be some poor planning by somebody.. waiting till middle of winter to get a mountain top propane tank filled.

fordsika

You are so good!
