Just learned this in criminal justice!
The Caning of Charles Sumner is not something people should ever forget. Progressive Sumner was nearly beaten to death by conservative Preston Brooks. A couple years later the Civil War kicked off.
Similar events are playing out today. Right-wing rhetoric got Nancy Pelosi a target on her back and her husband was hurt by a psychotic conservative. The Civil Rights Act is still law of the land…. For now. Remember what the conservatives did to Roe.
I felt happy Tim and Dan. Tim for winning the game and Dan participating final jeopardy this time. As you guys all remember on Dan’s previous game, he was in the Red Negative Hole most of the time wasn’t able to play final jeopardy. This was when Alex Trebek was hosting. Glad he redeemed himself even though he come up with anything.
So it was a radical Republican who wrote the first Civil Rights Act? Interesting.
Fun fact: The Civil Rights Act was also the answer on the first Daily Double in Double Jeopardy on Mattea Roach's second game.
The question was: Congress passed the first of these acts in 1866; Congress passed another big one in 1964.
All I did was and the years and made an educated guess. It’s wild to me that it was in place then struck down. Why were 1800s repubs so keen on progress and now they want to burn down the country’s progress? That’s rhetorical, btw. I know they were the liberal party then.
I knew this Final Jeopardy! clue instantly and I learned it in school.
As soon as I saw the "81 years later", I knew it was the Civil Rights Act!
Are these final Jeopardys getting easier or what?
Sorry. I was too busy staring at that random "thorn" of hair sticking out the left side of Mayim's head to answer the question.
I’m happy for Tim!! I felt bad for Dan because he had an up-and-down game today but at least he was not in the negative this time because I remember last time Dan was at -$7400 And tried to get out of the hole in time for final Jeopardy but he couldn’t quite make it!! In the game if he got the $1600 clue right that he missed he would’ve been around for final Jeopardy in that game!!
Civil rights act was what I got for the final. Grest to see tim dominating this game. I feel bad for dan today but stil he made a small comeback today after not being in the negative score range.
When is Ken coming back?
LBJ got it done ✔️ ..Civil Rights Act
The Democrats could block the Civil Rights Act once, but not the second time, despite their attempts!
