Those are brook trout, not rainbows.
At the 7:15 mark it’s not a rainbow trout. It’s actually a BROOK trout. One of the prettiest trout. They’re also very delicious, the best in my opinion, and 8” to 12” are the best eating ones. I used to fish like you do. The only difference I had a cast iron skillet, butter, salt, pepper , and maybe a little corn meal. Catch a couple. Keep the alive on a stringer. Make a little fire by the creek or river, and have one of the best freshes lunches you’ll EVER HAVE. Listening to the creek singing, and the other sounds of nature. Some of my fondest memories from 20-30 years ago when I was in my 20’s and 30’s. Some of the best trout creeks I ever fished in Michigan during my younger days. Just magical! Thanks for the memories of that brother!

I'm a local to this spot. You need fish down creek from where you parked I've caught 2, 20" fish out of there. My favorite spot not to many know about.
Do you suspect that the hiways people may have dumped lots of gravel near that former culvert hotspot, to stop people from parking too near that culvert and cause traffic problems?
