Audi has shown off its final Sphere concept, the Active Sphere, and it’s a beautiful oddity. It starts life as a coupe-cum-SUV but at the push of a button transforms into a pick-up truck you can take off road! And it has augmented reality tech! Alex Legouix takes a closer look.

you can see front down glass, but not when steering is out. DIdint thought out until finish
Perection!
I hope the interior quality is better than it looks and not awful recycled c r a p plastic. I like it otherwise.
oh look another little distraction ehg POSZ GOKYSPOSZ
This probably won't be tailgating you anytime soon.
Very beautiful lines. So far so good, but it is a stupid car! Who are the people, who demands self-driving cars? And this pushing virtual reality on top. I don't want it, no thanks! I want a CAR, where I can decide where to go and when. These self-driving cars is all Agenda 2020, which is a UN agenda ratified by all nations in 1992. According to this agenda sustainable development is to herd most of the world's population into highrise in huge mega cities, while most of the world's natural sites will be off limits for the average citizen at all times. These kind of cars is the dream of the despots pushing the global reset, a dystopian nightmare for everyone else. Cars is all about having freedom to go anywhere at any time, if you don't want that freedom, buy a bicycle or bus ticket instead and save a whole lot of money! On top, that rear deck with capacity for holding massively expensive e-bikes build by Audi: It has been done much better and cheaper for decades! You can for instance buy a rag for a tow hook on any car, that also can fit e-bikes and even charge them underway, and probably cost a fraction of the cost of just one of those fancy mirrors on that monstrosity. My sister had that on her car, three decades ago! The car world has gone mad, actually on all levels delivering and selling the customers, what no one has ever wanted! First is what EVs with no buttons, now this self-driving virtual reality madness!
I want one.
AutoTrader's car review platform is miles ahead of anything else.
Alexandra is a very welcomed addition to team of brilliant presenters. Rory? He's the leader of the pack.
The car from the outside and the pickup idea should be made as it looks so good.
Inside though most of that will never see the light of day, the lower window and all that open space will go, cars need crumple zones and using your body as one isn't a good look for Audi.
I get bucket seats but these are almost bathtubs, only a limited amount of people could get in them so cutting your sales also no matter how strong they are they will have some side bounce being attached on one side, the steering wheel column looks like it'd snap, too much shiny gloss surfaces inside making a fingerprint nightmare.
Also lower side windows ? how can I drive in my undercrackers if folk can see me 😋. besides there's no room for the main window to lower into which will annoy everybody having it sticking up.
Driving while wearing those glasses all the time, Matrix meets the Blues Brothers
Audi was always the car of the future. They just have that thing…
This is no more a pickup than an El Camino is a truck. Like the El Camino, it's cool, but it is NOT a pick up. Marketing from Audi, picked up by every YouTuber for views (excuse the pun). Remember that next time you criticize car marketers, Autotrader …
Pro presenter and and neat presentation. Keep an open mind by all means, but don't let your brain fall out during the long wait! 😅
Lol legacy automakers have truly lost their minds, they are trying anything and everything to catch up to Tesla even if it means to replace Akio Toyoda
Electric cars made audi engineers think out the box. Ice cars were too boxy.
stop designing such crappy things and invest on producing reliable, fast, fun to drive not expensive cars with no extravagant entertainment systems. I mean cars for the real drivers that can take corners and drift and put a smile on our face. the rest of you can take an UBER.
Another hit for Audi!
I'll have one of those pls 👌🏾
its a concept after all.. absolute joke.. thats the difference between tesla and audi / Tesla hava the balls to do it, audi showing us their unusable concept cars..
joke
Oh leave it. They can't even get a normal ev station wagon out the door.
Trash looking RC toy car electric mess
If you ever have an issue with it, it would be cheaper to buy a new one again.
Am i seeing this wrong or is there a massive whole in the rear of the cabin when in pickup mode??
Wow, it's just a fine piece of machinery made by Audi! Just breathtaking…
This concept design looks similar to Tata Curvv but more smooth edges
Annndd how much of these features can be locked behind a subscription model? Unfortunately all I can think of with these mad concepts; how will they charge for the stuff?
Audi has looked at what Rinspeed has done
Yes, just a concept' but, if ya had the back of the vehicle open to and had something in the back like bikes, and you were driving down a gravel road, the car would fill up with road dust. The cab must be sealed from the "truck bed".
This cyber truck looks very nice and super. I don't want to buy this, because I can get robbed. we are living in a criminal world.
Very intriguing on the value of advertising… Car Wow has at the time of writing this 9 times more views than this one. They are both spouting essentially the same marketing BS (thank you Sliced Bread BBC Podcast) spoon fed by Audi.
I’d be interested to know other views. Car Wow and Auto Trader are essentially ITV and BBC back in the Seventies. When my parents used to tell me don’t watch that commercial tat (ITV). We only watch the BBC. Halcyon days.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like concept vehicles. All the promised flash features rarely make it to production. I just don’t see the point. Show me one when it’s for sale.
Whatever this is, it's meh. It's a luxury truck that will only see shopping malls and paved roads, the truck bed is barely even small pickup truck length. Basically it's a statement piece than a utilitarian vehicle (yes I saw the bike rack things and whatnot, still not buying the idea). If Audi is making these, then what will the more upmarket Porsche make?
3:42 "Check this out!" sounds familiar
looks cool, it really does. But man these sliding exterior sections would never work here. My car right now is covered in about 1/8'' sheet of ice permanently glued to the sheetmetal. It's there until March.
Also wouldn't work for me because I have no 'top-class sports gear' whatsoever. Everything I have is from 25 years ago or bought in a garage sale.
A better ''amuse buche'' would be a sorta Audi 90 with a manual. I'd amuse my buche with a 90's Audi 90 wagon with my rental-grade crosscountry skis and a sandwich I made at home.
For some reason, I feel like a Subaru Crosstrek can do this task for 1/3 the price and no sliding sections.
This is an ASMR video innit
Looks like jumba from lilo and stitch
Auto trader physically there but not carwow??
Thumbs up though
When its in production you will have retired Alex or the world would have been annihilated
awful
Forget the self driving nonsense, the augmented reality, the glass panels in doors and front, figure out how to get suicide doors to production, add 5th seat and then I'd get this rather than ordinary SUV
Can't wait to see these in crowded cities!
Did see correctly that the car obstructs your view of the road?
Once they fix that, Great!😁
Nice idea , but by no means a pick up
Excellent review Alex !🇺🇲
HAHAHA suicide doors with no rear upper cross supports and a low tub. That thing would crumble like a cookie in a side impact… It'd be sick if they could make it though…
