Autumn Carp Fishing Social at Lin Brook Fishery! Parker Baits 2022

This mature 6-acre gravel pit has plenty of features, including gravel patches, reeds, a small island, and many Carpy overhangs in the margins. There are a total of 11 swims, including 2 doubles. All swims are fitted with 240-volt electric sockets. The double swims (5 & 8) are the only swims that are bookable. 

There are over 420 Carp present to 38.12lb. Some very rare albino grass carp to 25lb.

It was the day of the long-awaited Parkerbaits Social, with 12 of us excitedly making our way to the fantastic Lin Brook Fishery in Hampshire. Well, it was as good as the rumours say; Im excited to be surrounded by beautiful scenery and hopefully see some incredible carp.

Let’s head to the lake.

As with all good old socials, there’s the meeting of friends, which holds the usual good banter and ribbing. We then get to the vital part of the Social, yes, you know, the drawing of pegs.

Ben and Tom came out with a very novel way of picking pegs. Tom had a name picker on his phone; once your name was selected, you had to take a beer (bottle or can) or a cider if you fancied it. Did I pick something I like to drink or something else to get a better number on the bottom? To “Spice” it up a little, whoever had number 11 had the challenge of drinking a cup of chilli; Trevor picked this unfortunate; seeing the effects, I’m so glad it wasn’t me.

We then started the conversations on baits; as we all know, it’s the time for smaller baits; I always like maggots and worms as they come into their own. But with Parkerbaits added to the mix, with the 10mm 14mm OG Fish and Fruit & Nut plus all the others in the range, including Pop-Ups, Match the Hatch, the sauces and Magic Dust, and let’s not forget the Flat Spot we will be into some lovely’s.

So with all the pegs now chosen and everyone set up. The cold night is approaching, and I hope to leave you for now and report tomorrow of any captures overnight.

Cold Night reaching temperatures of 2 Degrees – Day 2

With the morning mist gone, we can report that a lovely 17.12lb Mirror was caught by Lewis on peg 12; well done, mate.

With a clear sky and the sun on the lake, It’s looking good for a bite; my traps are set. Let’s sit back, watch the water and keep our fingers crossed. I also just heard the news another two fish were lost in the night.

Well, it’s been yet another hard day at Lin Brooks; the conversations with everyone concern the cold snap from Friday. But with hopes still high, we go into the night with smiles and a good curry made by Trevor; I’m staying positive.

Sunday Morning last few hours to go

So last night it rained but still nothing to show; we all thought that with the oncoming of the rain, it might just turn the tide in our favour; with so many rods in the water, there is still time for a bite.

Ok, it’s 12.00, and with full trolleys, we meet back at the car park with only the one lovely fish to show, but as I wrote before, it’s clear that the cold snap on Friday affected all shows of any fish. But with good cheer, smiles soon appeared from a great team of guys who love to fish even on a quiet 48. We all agree on how good it was and how lovely Lin Brook Fisheries is; I know I’ll be returning. Well done, Lewis, with your beautiful 17lber good angling, mate. Trevor, the curry is fantastic, and my thanks go to Tom, T and Ben for putting the event together; well done, guys, plus great to see everyone.
